| 2 | THE INFLUENCE OF CAVITY DAMAGE ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SUPERPLASTICALLY-DEFORMED MATERIALS AND ITS PREDICTION显示文摘Aluminium alloy LY12CZ sheet without any pre-treatment has been used to study the influence of cavity damage on the mechanical properties of the superplastically-deformed materials room temper- ature. The experimental results show that: (1) the lower the rate of cavitation as the superplastic strain increases, the higher the superplasticity is; (2) the mechanical properties of superplastically- deformed materials at room temperature decrease as the superplastically-deformed strain increases, especially, a noteworthy decrease in elasticity modulus, yield strenth and ultimate strength at room temperature begins to appear as the level of cavitation by area comes up to about 4%, while at the same level the reduction in area drops down a very large quantity. | 3 | TiZr-base Bulk Metallic Glass with over 50 mm in Diameter显示文摘Low-cost TiZr-base bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)(Ti36.1Zr33.2Ni5.8Be24.9)100-xCux(x=5,7 and 9) with a maximum size of over 50 mm in diameter were developed by optimizing the alloy composition.The idea is initiated by selecting a particular microstructure comprising primary β-Ti dendrite and amorphous phase.Afterwards,based on this composition of amorphous phase,a class of TiZr-base bulk metallic glasses was designed step by step to reach the optimum composition range.The glass transition temperature(Tg),initial crystallization temperature(Tx) and width of supercooled region(△T) of(Ti36.1Zr33.2Ni5.8Be24.9)91Cu9 BMG are 611,655 and 44 K,respectively.The(Ti36.1Zr33.2Ni5.8Be24.9)91Cu9 BMG exhibits low density of 5.541 g·cm-3 and high compressive fracture strength of 1800 MPa,which promises the potential application as structural materials. | M. | 4 | Progress of applied research on TiO_2 photocatalysis-membrane separation coupling technology in water and wastewater treatments显示文摘Photocatalysis-membrane separation coupling technology has been a heavily researched area in water and wastewater treatment during recent years. The membrane separation process allows the photocatalyst to be easily separated, recovered and reused. More significantly, the membrane is efficient to maintain high flux of membranes as the photocatalyst can reduce the membrane fouling problem which is a hindrance in the development of membrane process. Moreover, some synergistic effects can also be produced, and thus the efficiency of water treatment is enhanced greatly. A comprehensive review of photocatalysis-membrane separation coupling technology is conducted with an insight into its configurations, theories involved, characteristics, and factors that influ-ence the coupling technology. | 5 | Optimization of N18 Zirconium Alloy for Fuel Cladding of Water Reactors显示文摘In order to optimize the microstructure and composition of N18 zirconium alloy(Zr-1Sn-0.35Nb-0.35Fe-0.1Cr,in mass fraction,%),which was developed in China in 1990s,the effect of microstructure and composition variation on the corrosion resistance of the N18 alloy has been investigated.The autoclave corrosion tests were carried out in super heated steam at 400 ℃/10.3 MPa,in deionized water or lithiated water with 0.01 mol/L LiOH at 360 ℃/18.6 MPa.The exposure time lasted for 300-550 days according to the test temperature.The results show that the microstructure with a fine and uniform distribution of second phase particles(SPPs),and the decrease of Sn content from 1%(in mass fraction,the same as follows) to 0.8% are of benefit to improving the corrosion resistance;It is detrimental to the corrosion resistance if no Cr addition.The addition of Nb content with upper limit(0.35%) is beneficial to improving the corrosion resistance.The addition of Cu less than 0.1% shows no remarkable influence upon the corrosion resistance for N18 alloy.Comparing the corrosion resistance of the optimized N18 with other commercial zirconium alloys,such as Zircaloy-4,ZIRLO,E635 and E110,the former shows superior corrosion resistance in all autoclave testing conditions mentioned above.Although the data of the corrosion resistance as fuel cladding for high burn-up has not been obtained yet,it is believed that the optimized N18 alloy is promising for the candidate of fuel cladding materials as high burn-up fuel assemblies.Based on the theory that the microstructural evolution of oxide layer during corrosion process will affect the corrosion resistance of zirconium alloys,the improvement of corrosion resistance of the N18 alloy by obtaining the microstructure with nano-size and uniform distribution of SPPs,and by decreasing the content of Sn and maintaining the content of Cr is discussed. | B.X. | 6 | Microstructure and mechanical optimization of probeless friction stir spot welded joint of an Al-Li alloy显示文摘In this work, a third generation Al-Li alloy has been successfully spot welded with probeless friction stir spot welding(P-FSSW), which is a variant of conventional friction stir welding. The Box-Behnken experimental design in response surface methodology(RSM) was applied to optimize the P-FSSW parameters to attain maximum tensile/shear strength of the spot joints. Results show that an optimal failure load of7.83 kN was obtained under a dwell time of 7.2 s, rotation speed of 950 rpm and plunge rate of 30 mm/min.Sufficient dwell time is essential for heat conduction, material flow and expansion of the stir zone to form a sound joint. Two fracture modes were observed, which were significantly affected by hook defect.In addition to mechanical testing, electron backscattering diffraction(EBSD) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) were used for microstructure evolution and property analysis. | 11 | Hsa-miR-1246, hsa-miR-320a and hsa-miR-196b-5p inhibitors can reduce the cytotoxicity of Ebola virus glycoprotein in vitro显示文摘Ebola virus(EBOV)causes a highly lethal hemorrhagic fever syndrome in humans and has been associated with mortality rates of up to 91%in Zaire,the most lethal strain.Though the viral envelope glycoprotein(GP)mediates widespread inflammation and cellular damage,these changes have mainly focused on alterations at the protein level,the role of microRNAs(miRNAs)in the molecular pathogenesis underlying this lethal disease is not fully understood.Here,we report that the miRNAs hsa-miR-1246,hsa-miR-320a and hsa-miR-196b-5p were induced in human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)following expression of EBOV GP.Among the proteins encoded by predicted targets of these miRNAs,the adhesion-related molecules tissue factor pathway inhibitor(TFPI),dystroglycan1(DAG1)and the caspase 8 and FADD-like apoptosis regulator(CFLAR)were significantly downregulated in EBOV GP-expressing HUVECs.Moreover,inhibition of hsa-miR-1246,hsa-miR-320a and hsa-miR-196b-5p,or overexpression of TFPI,DAG1 and CFLAR rescued the cell viability that was induced by EBOV GP.Our results provide a novel molecular basis for EBOV pathogenesis and may contribute to the development of strategies to protect against future EBOV pandemics. | SHENG MiaoMiao ZHONG Ying CHEN Yang DU JianChao JU XiangWu ZHAO Chen ZHANG GuiGen ZHANG LiFang LIU KangTai YANG Ning XIE Peng LI DangSheng ZHANG Michael Q. | 14 | SIMULATION ON TEMPERATURE FIELD OF FRICTION STIR WELDED JOINTS OF 2024-T4 Al显示文摘The thermal model of FSW based on the thermal elastic-plastic finite element method, and the transient temperature distribution of FS welded joints of 2024-T4 Al was simulated by using this model, which provides useful information for the investigation of FSW process. Simulation results show that the temperature distribution of the weld gradually decreases toward periphery in a radiate format, whose center is the probe, and the highest temperature in the weld can reach about 400℃. The initial terminal of the weld is a zone, in which the temperature gradient is great, and defects of the welding are easily produced in this zone. | 15 | Microarray,SAGE and their applications to cardiovascular diseases显示文摘The wealth of DNA data generated by the human genome project coupling with recently invented high-throughput gene expression profiling techniques has dramatically sped up the process for biomedical researchers on elucidating the role of genes in human diseases. One powerful method to reveal insight into gene functions is the systematic analysis of gene expression. Two popular high-throughput gene expression technologies, microarray and Serial Analysis of Gene Expression (SAGE) are capable of producing large amounts of gene expression data with the potential of providing novel insights into fundamental disease processes, especially complex syndromes such as cardiovascular disease, whose etiologies are due to multiple genetic factors and their interplay with the environment. Microarray and SAGE have already been used to examine gene expression patterns of cell-culture, animal and human tissues models of cardiovascular diseases. In this review, we will first give a brief introduction of microarray and SAGE technologies and point out their limitations. We will then discuss the major discoveries and the new biological insightsthat have emerged from their applications to cardiovascular diseases. | 18 | Multiple Chromatographic and Chemometric Methods for Quality Standardization of Chinese Herbal Medicines显示文摘Quality standardization of complementary medicine is fundamental for industry and practice as it underpins the quality,safety and efficacy of Chinese herbal medicines.Current herbal standardizations are often based on the quantitative analysis of a single compound,which may not reflect the total characteristic,bioactive and toxic nature of the herbs or products.Therefore,there is a need to establish an internationally recognized methodology for quality standardization of Chinese herbal medicines.The analytical methods reviewed in this article are pharmacognosy,TLC,HPLC,LCMS,CE and chemo-metrics.This article also covers the developments and applications of these methods in quality standardization.Recent advances show that a combination of these methods creates an overall chemical profile of each herb.This is supported by results reviewed in this article and obtained in our laboratory tests on medicinal herbs including Hypericum perforatum,Morinda officinalis and Centella asiatica.Significant variations in active components have been observed between herbal samples and products.It is proposed that the identification of active components,pharmacological activities and eventual clinical applications are required for a comprehensive quality standardization system.Our findings indicate that the combination of various chromatographic and chemometric methods will advance the methodology of quality standardization and enhance the overall confidence in herbal medicine for the health practitioner and the public. | Valentina Razmovski-Naumovski Wannit Tongkao-on Benjamin Kimble Vincent L.
