| 1 | Kynurenine pathway metabolism and neuroinflammatory disease显示文摘Immune-mediated activation of tryptophan(TRYP) catabolism via the kynurenine pathway(KP) is a consistent finding in all inflammatory disorders.Several studies by our group and others have examined the neurotoxic potential of neuroreactive TRYP metabolites,including quinolinic acid(QUIN) in neuroinflammatory neurological disorders,including Alzheimer's disease(AD),multiple sclerosis,amylotropic lateral sclerosis(ALS),and AIDS related dementia complex(ADC).Our current work aims to determine whether there is any benefit to the affected individuals in enhancing the catabolism of TRYP via the KP during an immune response.Under physiological conditions,QUIN is metabolized to the essential pyridine nucleotide,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+),which represents an important metabolic cofactor and electron transporter.NAD+ also serves as a substrate for the DNA ‘nick sensor' and putative nuclear repair enzyme,poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP).Free radical initiated DNA damage,PARP activation and NAD+ depletion may contribute to brain dysfunction and cell death in neuroinflammatory disease. | Nady Braidy Ross Grant | 2017 | Neural Regeneration Research2017，12，1： | 6 |

| 3 | Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of inflammatory bowel diseases in Cairo,Egypt显示文摘AIM:To study the natural history,patterns and clinical characteristics of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)in Egypt.METHODS:We designed a case-series study in the gastroenterology centre of the Internal Medicine department of Cairo University,which is a tertiary care referral centre in Egypt.We included all patients in whom the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis(UC)or Crohn’s disease(CD)was confirmed by clinical,laboratory,endoscopic,histological and/or radiological criteria over the 15 year period from 1995 to 2009,and we studied their sociodemographic and clinical characteristics.Endoscopic examinations were performed by 2 senior experts.This hospital centre serves patients from Cairo,as well as patients referred from all other parts of Egypt.Our centre received 24156 patients over the described time period for gastro-intestinal consultations and/or interventions.RESULTS:A total of 157 patients with established IBD were included in this study.Of these,135 patients were diagnosed with UC(86%of the total),and 22patients,with CD(14%of the total).The mean ages at diagnosis were 27.3 and 29.7,respectively.Strikingly,we noticed a marked increase in the frequency of both UC and CD diagnoses during the most recent 10 years of the 15 year period studied.Regarding the gender distribution,the male:female ratio was 1:1.15 for UC and 2.6:1 for CD.The mean duration of follow up for patients with UC was 6.2±5.18 years,while the mean duration of follow up for patients with CD was 5.52±2.83 years.For patients with UC we found no correlation between the severity of the disease and the presence of extraintestinal manifestations.Eleven patients had surgical interventions during the studied years:4cases of total colectomy and 7 cases of anal surgery.CONCLUSION:We observed a ratio of 6:1 for UC to CD in our series.The incidence of IBD seems to be rising in Egypt. | Serag Esmat Mohamed El Nady Mohamed Elfekki Yehia Elsherif Mazen Naga | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014，20，3： | 3 |
| 4 | Outcomes after arthroscopic repair of rotator cuff tears in the setting of mild to moderate glenohumeral osteoarthritis显示文摘BACKGROUND Rotator cuff pathology is a very common source of shoulder pain.Similarly,osteoarthritis of the glenohumeral joint can cause shoulder pain and produce similar symptoms.Surgical management can be indicated for both pathologies,however,outcomes data is limited when examining rotator cuff repair(RCR) in the setting of glenohumeral arthritis(GHOA).Thus,this study sought to determine outcomes for patients who undergo RCR in the setting of GHOA.AIM To evaluate if a relationship exists between outcomes of RCR in the setting of GHOA.METHODS This was a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with concurrent glenohumeral osteoarthritis between 2010-2017.Patients were stratified based on rotator cuff tear size and glenohumeral osteoarthritis severity.Cohorts were paired 1:1 with patients without glenohumeral osteoarthritis.Patients included had a minimum two year follow-up.Rate of conversion to total shoulder arthroplasty,complication rates following initial surgery,and patient-reported outcome measures were collected.RESULTS A total of 142 patients were included.The number of patients that required total shoulder arthroplasty within two years after index surgery was low.2/71(2.8%) patients with GHOA,and 1/71(1.4%) without GHOA.Following rotator cuff repair,both groups showed favorable patientreported outcomes.CONCLUSION Patients with glenohumeral osteoarthritis who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair showed comparable outcomes to patients without glenohumeral osteoarthritis. | Ian S Hong Allison J Rao Tyler L CarlLee Joshua D Meade Daniel J Hurwit Gregory Scarola David P Trofa Shadley C Schiffern Nady Hamid Patrick M Connor James E Fleischli Bryan Michael Saltzman | 2022 | World Journal of Orthopedics2022，13，7： | 2 |
| 5 | Influence of random heterogeneity of shear wave velocity on sliding mass response and seismic deformations of earth slopes显示文摘Soil shear wave velocity has been recognized as a governing parameter in the assessment of the seismic response of slopes.The spatial variability of soil shear wave velocity can influence the seismic response of sliding mass and seismic displacements.However,most analyses of sliding mass response have been carried out by deterministic models.This paper stochastically investigates the effect of random heterogeneity of shear wave velocity of soil on the dynamic response of sliding mass using the correlation matrix decomposition method and Monte Carlo simulation(MCS).The software FLAC 7.0 along with a Matlab code has been utilized for this purpose.The influence of statistical parameters on the seismic response of sliding mass and seismic displacements in earth slopes with different inclinations and stiffnesses subject to various earthquake shakings was investigated.The results indicated that,in general,the random heterogeneity of soil shear modulus can have a notable impact on the sliding mass response and that neglecting this phenomenon could lead to underestimation of sliding deformations. | Pourya Kazemi Esfeh Bahram Nadi Nicholas Fantuzzi | 2020 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2020，19，2： | 2 |
