1Efficacy of fermented milk and whey proteins in Helicobacter pylori eradication:A review显示文摘Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)eradication is considered a necessary step in the management of peptic ulcer disease,chronic gastritis,gastric adenocarcinoma and mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma.Standard triple therapy eradication regimens are inconvenient and achieve unpredictable and often poor results.Eradication rates are decreasing over time with increase in antibiotic resistance.Fermented milk and several of its component whey proteins have emerged as candidates for complementary therapy.In this context the current review seeks to summarize the current evidence available on their role in H.pylori eradication.Pertinent narrative/systematic reviews,clinical trials and laboratory studies on individual components including fermented milk,yogurt,whey proteins,lactoferrin,α-lactalbumin(α-LA),glycomacropeptide and immunoglobulin were comprehensively searched and retrieved from Medline,Embase,Scopus,Cochrane Controlled Trials Register and abstracts/proceedings of conferences up to May 2013.A preponderance of the evidence available on fermented milk-based probiotic preparations and bovine lactoferrin suggests a beneficial effect in Helicobacter eradication.Evidence forα-LA and immunoglobulins is promising while that for glycomacropeptide is preliminary and requires substantiation.The magnitude of the potential benefit documented so far is small and the precise clinical settings are ill defined.This restricts the potential use of this group as a complementary therapy in a nutraceutical setting hinging on better patient acceptability/compliance.Further work is necessary to identify the optimal substrate,fermentation process,dose and the ideal clinical setting(prevention/treatment,first line therapy/recurrence,symptomatic/asymptomatic,gastritis/ulcer diseases etc.).The potential of this group in high antibiotic resistance or treatment failure settings presents interesting possibilities and deserves further exploration.Aarti Sachdeva Swapnil Rawat Jitender Nagpal 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,3:7
2Potential of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria-plant interactions in mitigating salt stress for sustainable agriculture:A review显示文摘Soil salinization affecting different crops is one of the serious threats to global food security.Soil salinity affects 20%and 33%of the total cultivated and irrigated agricultural lands,respectively,and has been reported to caused a global crop production loss of 27.3 billion USD.The conventional approaches,such as using salt-tolerant varieties,saline soil scrapping,flushing,leaching,and adding supplements (e.g.,gypsum and lime),often fail to alleviate stress.In this context,developing diverse arrays of microbes enhancing crop productivity under saline soil conditions without harming soil health is necessary.Various advanced omics approaches have enabled gaining new insights into the structure and metabolic functions of plant-associated beneficial microbes.Various genera of salt-tolerating rhizobacteria ameliorating biotic and abiotic stresses have been isolated from different legumes,cereals,vegetables,and oil seeds under extreme alkaline and saline soil conditions.Rapid progress in rhizosphere microbiome research has revived the belief that plants may be more benefited from their association with interacting diverse microbial communities as compared with individual members in a community.In the last decade,several salt-tolerating plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) that improve crop production under salt stress have been exploited for the reclamation of saline agrosystems.This review highlights that the interaction of salt-tolerating microbes with plants improves crop productivity under salinity stress along with potential salt tolerance mechanisms involved and will open new avenues for capitalizing on cultivable diverse microbial communities to strengthen plant salt tolerance and,thus,to refine agricultural practices and production under saline conditions.Kailash Chand KUMAWAT Sharon NAGPAL Poonam SHARMA 2022Pedosphere2022,32,2:5
3Substrate-decoupled,bulk-acoustic wave gyroscopes:Design and evaluation of next-generation environmentally robust devices显示文摘This paper reports on a new type of high-frequency mode-matched gyroscope with significantly reduced dependencies on environmental stimuli such as temperature,vibration,and shock.A novel stress-isolation system is used to effectively decouple an axis-symmetric bulk-acoustic wave(BAW)vibratory gyro from its substrate,minimizing the effect that external sources of error have on the offset and scale factor of the device.Substrate-decoupled(SD)BAW gyros with a resonance frequency of 4.3 MHz and Q values near 60000 were implemented using the high aspect ratio poly and single-crystal silicon(HARPSS)process to achieve ultra-narrow capacitive gaps.Wafer-level packaged sensors were interfaced with a customized application-specific integrated circuit(ASIC)to achieve low variations in the offset across temperature(±26°s^(−1) from−40 to 85℃),supreme random-vibration immunity(0.012°s^(−1) gRMS−1)and excellent shock rejection.With a scale factor of 800μV(°s^(−1))^(−1),the SD-BAW gyro system attains a large full-scale range(±1250°s^(−1))with a non-linearity of less than 0.07%.A measured angle-random walk(ARW)of 0.39°/√h and a bias instability of 10.5°h^(−1) are dominated by the thermal and flicker noise of the integrated circuit(IC),respectively.Additional measurements using external electronics show bias-instability values as low as 3.5°h−1,which are limited by feed-through signals coupled from the drive loop to the sense channel,which can be further reduced through proper re-routing of the gyroscope pin-out configuration.Diego E.Serrano Mohammad F.Zaman Amir Rahafrooz Peter Hrudey Ron Lipka Duane Younkin Shin Nagpal Ijaz Jafri Farrokh Ayazi 2016Microsystems & Nanoengineering2016,2,1:3

6Increased fecal viral content associated with obesity in mice显示文摘AIM: To investigate the presence of total gut viral content in obese mice, and establish correlation with obesity associated metabolic measures and gut microbiome.METHODS: Fresh fecal samples were collected from normal and obese(Leptin deficient Lep^(ob/ob)) mice. Total viral DNA and RNA was isolated and quantified for establishing the correlation with metabolic measures and composition of gut bacterial communities.RESULTS: In this report, we found that obese mice feces have higher viral contents in terms of total viral DNA and RNA(P < 0.001). Interestingly, these increased viral DNA and RNA content were tightly correlated with metabolic measures, i.e., body weight, fat mass and fasting blood glucose. Total viral content were positively correlated with firmicutes(R^2 > 0.6), whilst negatively correlated with bacteroidetes and bifidobacteria. 7A correlation analysis of BroselowTM Pediatric Emergency Tape-determined pediatric weight with actual pediatric weight in India显示文摘BACKGROUND:The Broselow?Pediatric Emergency Tape indicates standardized,precalculated medication doses,dose delivery volumes,and equipment sizes using color-coded zones based on height-weight correlations.The present study attempted to provide more evidence on the effectiveness of the Broselow?Pediatric Emergency Tape by comparing the tape-estimated weights with actual weights.We hypothesized that the Broselow?Pediatric Emergency Tape would overestimate weights in Indian children aged<10 years,leading to inaccurate dosing and equipment sizing in the emergency setting.METHODS:This prospective study of pediatric patients aged<10 years who were divided into three groups based on actual body weight:<10 kg,10–18 kg,and>18 kg.We calculated the percentage difference between the Broselow-predicted weight and the measured weight as a measure of tape bias.Concordant results were those with a mean percent difference within 3%.Standard deviation was measured to determine precision.Accuracy was determined as color-coded zone prediction and measured weight concordance,including the percentage overestimation by 1–2 zones.RESULTS:The male-to-female ratio of the patients was 1.3:1.Total agreement between colorcoding was 63.18%(κ=0.582).The Broselow?color-coded zone agreement was 74.8%in the<10kg group,61.24%in the 10–18 kg group,and 53.42%in the>18 kg group.CONCLUSIONS:The Broselow?Pediatric Emergency Tape showed good evidence for being more reliable in children of the<10 kg and 10–18 kg groups.However,as pediatric weight increased,predictive reliability decreased.This raises concerns over the use of the Broselow?Pediatric Emergency Tape in Indian children because body weight was overestimated in those weighing>18 kg.Deepak Geetaprasad mishra Tamorish Kole Rahul Nagpal Jeffery Paul Smith 2016World Journal of Emergency Medicine2016,7,1:2
