| 1 | Diagnostic value of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography in choledocholithiasis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP) in patients with choledocholithiasis.METHODS:We systematically searched MEDLINE,EMBASE,Web of Science,and Cochrane databases for studies reporting on the sensitivity,specificity and other accuracy measures of diagnostic effectiveness of MRCP for detection of common bile duct(CBD) stones.Pooled analysis was performed using random effects models,and receiver operating characteristic curves were generated to summarize overall test performance.Two reviewers independently assessed the methodological quality of studies using standards for reporting diagnostic accuracy and quality assessment for studies of diagnostic accuracy tools.RESULTS:A total of 25 studies involving 2310 patients with suspected choledocholithiasis and 738 patients with CBD stones met the inclusion criteria.The average inter-rater agreement on the methodological quality checklists was 0.96.Pooled analysis of the ability of MRCP to detect CBD stones showed the following effect estimates:sensitivity,0.90(95%CI:0.88-0.92,χ2 = 65.80; P < 0.001); specificity,0.95(95%CI:0.93-1.0,χ2 = 110.51; P < 0.001); positive likelihood ratio,13.28(95%CI:8.85-19.94,χ2 = 78.95; P < 0.001); negative likelihood ratio,0.13(95%CI:0.09-0.18,χ2 = 6.27; P < 0.001); and diagnostic odds ratio,143.82(95%CI:82.42-250.95,χ2 = 44.19; P < 0.001).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.97.Significant publication bias was not detected(P = 0.266).CONCLUSION:MRCP has high diagnostic accuracy for the detection of choledocholithiasis.MRCP should be the method of choice for suspected cases of CBD stones. | Wen Chen Jing-Jia Mo Li Lin Chao-Qun Li Jian-Feng Zhang | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,11: | 21 |
| 2 | Constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment in cold climate--A review显示文摘Constructed wetlands(CWs) have been successfully used for treating various wastewaters for decades and have been identified as a sustainable wastewater management option worldwide.However,the application of CW for wastewater treatment in frigid climate presents special challenges.Wetland treatment of wastewater relies largely on biological processes,and reliable treatment is often a function of climate conditions.To date,the rate of adoption of wetland technology for wastewater treatment in cold regions has been slow and there are relatively few published reports on CW applications in cold climate.This paper therefore highlights the practice and applications of treatment wetlands in cold climate.A comprehensive review of the effectiveness of contaminant removal in different wetland systems including:(1) free water surface(FWS) CWs;(2) subsurface flow(SSF) CWs;and(3) hybrid wetland systems,is presented.The emphasis of this review is also placed on the influence of cold weather conditions on the removal efficacies of different contaminants.The strategies of wetland design and operation for performance intensification,such as the presence of plant,operational mode,effluent recirculation,artificial aeration and in-series design,which are crucial to achieve the sustainable treatment performance in cold climate,are also discussed.This study is conducive to further research for the understanding of CW design and treatment performance in cold climate. | Mo Wang Dong Qing Zhang Jian Wen Dong Soon Keat Tan | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7: | 19 |
| 3 | Daclatasvir plus asunaprevir in treatment-na?ve patients with hepatitis C virus genotype 1b infection显示文摘AIM To assess daclatasvir plus asunaprevir(d UAL) in treatment-na?ve patients from China's Mainland, Russia and South Korea with hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotype 1 b infection. METHODS Patients were randomly assigned(3:1) to receive 24 wk of treatment with d UAL(daclatasvir 60 mg once daily and asunaprevir 100 mg twice daily) beginning on day 1 of the treatment period(immediate treatment arm) or following 12 wk of matching placebo(placebodeferred treatment arm). The primary endpoint was a comparison of sustained virologic response at posttreatment week 12(SVR12) compared with the historical SVR rate for peg-interferon plus ribavirin(70%) among patients in the immediate treatment arm. The first 12 wk of the study were blinded. Safety was assessed in d UAL-treated patients compared with placebo patients during the first 12 wk(doubleblind phase), and during 24 wk of d UAL in both arms combined.RESULTS In total, 207 patients were randomly assigned to immediate(n = 155) or placebo-deferred(n = 52) treatment. Most patients were Asian(86%), female(59%) and aged < 65 years(90%). Among them, 13% had cirrhosis, 32% had IL28 B non-CC genotypes and 53% had baseline HCV RNA levels of ≥ 6 million IU/m L. Among patients in the immediate treatment arm, SVR12 was achieved by 92%(95% confidence interval: 87.2-96.0), which was significantly higher than the historical comparator rate(70%). SVR12 was largely unaffected by cirrhosis(89%), age ≥ 65 years(92%), male sex(90%), baseline HCV RNA ≥ 6 million(89%) or IL28 B non-CC genotypes(96%), although SVR12 was higher among patients without(96%) than among those with(53%) baseline NS5 A resistanceassociated polymorphisms(at L31 or Y93 H). during the double-blind phase, aminotransferase elevations were more common among placebo recipients than among patients receiving d UAL. during 24 wk of d UAL therapy(combined arms), the most common adverse events(≥ 10%) were elevated alanine aminotransferase and upper respiratory tract infection; emergent grade 3-4 laboratory abnormalities were infrequently observed, and all grade 3-4 aminotransferase abnormalities(alanine aminotransferase, n = 9; aspartate transaminase, n = 6) reversed within 8-11 d. Two patients discontinued d UAL treatment; one due to aminotransferase elevations, nausea, and jaundice and the other due to a fatal adverse event unrelated to treatment. | 4 | Non-buckled vitrectomy for retinal detachment with inferior breaks and proliferative vitreoretinophathy显示文摘AIM: To investigate the efficacy of non-buckled vitrectomy with classical endotamponade agents in the treatment of primary retinal detachment (RD) complicated by inferior breaks and proliferative vitreoretinophathy (PVR).METHODS: A retrospective, consecutive and case series study of 40 patients with inferior break RD and PVR≥C1 was conducted. All patients underwent a standard 3-port 20-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with gas or silicone oil tamponade without supplementary scleral buckling. The vitreous and all proliferative membrane were completely removed, and retinectomy was performed when necessary. The mean follow-up was 12.5 months. The primary and final anatomic success rate, visual acuity and complications were recorded and analyzed. RESULTS: Primary anatomic success rate was achieved in 35 of 40 eyes (87.5%) and the final anatomic success rate was 100%. The most common cause of redetachment was recurrent PVR. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at final follow-up was improved in 34 eyes (85%), remained stable in 1 eye (2.5%), and worsened in 5 eyes (12.5%). The mean visual acuity at final follow-up was improved significantly (P=0.000).CONCLUSION: This retrospective study provides evidence that vitrectomy without scleral buckling seemed to be an effective treatment for inferior break RD with PVR. | 5 | Efficacy and safety of Yunxiangjing derived from Chinese herbal medicine administered as an enema in the management of acute radiation-induced proctitis in patients with pelvic malignancy显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of Yunxiangjing(YXJ), derived from Chinese herbal medicine, in the management of acute radiation-induced proctitis(ARIP) in patients with pelvic malignancy.METHODS: Forty-eight patients with grade 2 ARIP were administered YXJ as an enema(1∶30 dilution)for 2 weeks and followed up for 2 years. All were assessed for response and ARIP grade. Quality of life(QOL) was assessed with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30.RESULTS: Of the 48 patients, six(12.5%) achieved complete remission of ARIP and 28(58.3%) showed a decrease from grade 2 to grade 1 ARIP. No patient experienced a grade ≥3 toxicity. At the end of radiotherapy, patients showed significant improvements in QOL(P < 0.05). Two years after treatment, 46 patients showed no late toxicity, with only two experiencing grade 1 late toxicity.CONCLUSION: YXJ can be used as an enema to manage acute radiation-induced proctitis in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. | 10 | Biosynthesis of Unsaturated Fatty Acids via Mortierella Isabellina Cultivated in a Medium Containing Butanol显示文摘Mortierella isabellina was found to accumulate large amounts of unsaturated fatty acids when it was grown in a medium containing butanol(5 g/L) and yeast extract(10 g/L) and cultivated at 25 ℃ for 5 d during which additional feeding butanol of 2 g/L was fed after being cultivated for 48 h . The resultant mycelial lipids accounted for 40 1% of the dry mycelia, while about 34% of butanol in the medium was converted. The mycelial lipids contained four kinds of unsaturated fatty acids, i.e ., palmitoleic(4 9%), oleic(54 1%), linoleic(10 4%) and linolenic(5 4%) acids. Those accounted for 74 8% of the total fatty acids. | 11 | Ezrin Promotes the Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion of Ovarian Cancer Cells显示文摘Objective The underlying mechanism of Ezrin in ovarian cancer(OVCA) is far from being understood.Therefore, this study aimed to assess the role of Ezrin in OVCA cells(SKOV3 and Ca OV3) and investigate the associated molecular mechanisms.Methods We performed Western blotting, reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, MTT, cell colony, cell wound healing, transwell migration and invasion, Rho A and Rac active pull down assays, and confocal immunofluorescence experiments to evaluate the functions and molecular mechanisms of Ezrin overexpression or knockdown in the proliferation and metastasis of OVCA cells.Results The ectopic expression of Ezrin significantly increased cell proliferation, invasiveness, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT) in OVCA cells. By contrast, the knockdown of endogenous Ezrin prevented OVCA cell proliferation, invasiveness, and EMT. | 12 | Changes in Vegetation and Assessment of Meteorological Conditions in Ecologically Fragile Karst Areas显示文摘Meteorological conditions have an important impact on changes of vegetation in ecologically fragile karst areas.This study aims to explore a method for quantitative evaluation of these meteorological conditions. We analyzed the changing trend of vegetation during 2000–2018 and the correlations between vegetation changes and various meteorological factors in karst rocky areas of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Key meteorological factors in vegetation areas with varying degrees of improvement were selected and evaluated at seasonal timescale. A quantitative evaluation model of comprehensive influences of meteorological factors on vegetation was built by using the partial least-square regression(PLS). About 91.45% of the vegetation tended to be improved, while only the rest 8.55% showed a trend of degradation from 2000 to 2018. Areas with evident vegetation improvement were mainly distributed in the middle and northeast, and those with obvious vegetation degradation were scattered. Meteorological factors affecting vegetation were significantly different among the four seasons. Overall, high air humidity, small temperature difference in spring and autumn, and low daily minimum temperature and air pressure were favorable conditions. Low temperature in winter as well as high temperature in summer and autumn were unfavorable conditions. The Climate Vegetation Index(CVI) model was established by PLS using the maximum, minimum, and average temperatures;vapor pressure;rainfall;and air pressure as key meteorological factors. The Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI) was well fitted by the CVI model, with the average coefficient of determination(r2) and root mean square error(RMSE) of 0.856 and 0.042, respectively. Finally, an assessment model of comprehensive meteorological conditions was built based on the interannual differences in CVI. | 16 | Elevated preoperative CA125 is associated with poor survival in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer undergoing primary tumor resection:a retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background The impact of the preoperative carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125)level on the survival of metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC)patients undergoing primary tumor resection(PTR)remains uncertain.The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic value in overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)between patients with and without an elevated preoperative CA125 level.Methods All metastatic CRC patients receiving PTR between 2007 and 2017 at the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University(Guangzhou,China)were retrospectively included.OS and CSS rates were compared between patients with and without elevated preoperative CA125 levels.Results Among 326 patients examined,46(14.1%)exhibited elevated preoperative CA125 levels and the remaining 280(85.9%)had normal preoperative CA125 levels.Patients with elevated preoperative CA125 levels had lower body mass index,lower preoperative albumin level,lower proportion of preoperative chemotherapy,higher carcinoembryonic antigen and carbohydrate antigen 19–9(CA19–9)levels,poorer differentiation,and more malignant histopathological type than patients with normal preoperative CA125 levels.In addition,patients with elevated preoperative CA125 levels exhibited more advanced pathological T and N stages,more peritoneal metastasis,and more vessel invasion than patients with normal preoperative CA125 levels.Moreover,the primary tumor was more likely to be located at the colon rather than at the rectum in patients with elevated CA125 levels.Both OS and CSS rates in patients with elevated preoperative CA125 levels were significantly lower than those in patients with normal preoperative CA125 levels.Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that an elevated preoperative CA125 level was significantly associated with poor prognosis in metastatic CRC patients undergoing PTR.The hazard ratio(HR)in OS was 2.36(95%confidence interval[CI],1.67–3.33,P<0.001)and the HR in CSS was 2.50(95%CI,1.77–3.55,P<0.001).The survival analysis stratified by peritoneal metastasis also demonstrated that patients with elevated preoperative CA125 levels had lower OS and CSS rates regardless of peritoneal metastasis.Conclusion Based on an analysis of metastatic CRC patients undergoing PTR,an elevated preoperative CA125 level was associated with poor prognosis,which should be taken into consideration in clinical practice. | Jun-Hua Huang Hua-Shan Liu Tuo Hu Zong-Jin Zhang Xiao-Wen He Tai-Wei Mo Xiao-Feng Wen Ping Lan Lei Lian Xian-Rui Wu | 2022 | Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1: | 2 |

| 18 | Few-mode fibre-optic microwave photonic links显示文摘The fibre-optic microwave photonic link has become one of the basic building blocks for microwave photonics.Increasing the optical power at the receiver is the best way to improve all link performance metrics including gain,noise figure and dynamic range.Even though lasers can produce and photodetectors can receive optical powers on the order of a Watt or more,the power-handling capability of optical fibres is orders-of-magnitude lower.In this paper,we propose and demonstrate the use of few-mode fibres to bridge this power-handling gap,exploiting their unique features of small acousto-optic effective area,large effective areas of optical modes,as well as orthogonality and walk-off among spatial modes.Using specially designed few-mode fibres,we demonstrate order-of-magnitude improvements in link performances for single-channel and multiplexed transmission.This work represents the first step in few-mode microwave photonics.The spatial degrees of freedom can also offer other functionalities such as large,tunable delays based on modal dispersion and wavelength-independent lossless signal combining,which are indispensable in microwave photonics. | He Wen Hongjun Zheng Qi Mo Amado Manuel Velázquez-Benítez Cen Xia Bin Huang Huiyuan Liu Huang Yu Pierre Sillard Jose Enrique Antonio Lopez Rodrigo Amezcua Correa Guifang Li | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1: | 2 |

| 20 | Mechanism of aluminum complexation in oxidative activity of leaching bacteria in a fluoride-containing bioleaching system显示文摘Accumulation of toxic ions in leachate is one factor limiting bioleaching applications. The effect of fluoride ions on the growth of bioleaching microorganisms has been extensively emphasized. In this study, HF is found to be the toxic form of fluoride that affects the bacterial activity under acidic conditions. The added aluminum could compete with H^+ to complex with F-, thus significantly decrease the concentration of HF and finally reduce the toxicity of fluoride to bacteria. When F^-/Al^(3+)concentration ratio is 0.5:1.0, Fe^(2+) oxidation rate could reach 0.167 g·L^(-1)·h^(-1), close to that of the biotic control group(0.195 g·L^(-1)·h^(-1)). The competitive complexation mechanism of fluoride by AlF_n^(3-n) results in stability constants of AlF_n^(3-n) complex(7.00) that are larger than those of HF(3.18). The F^-/Al^(3+) concentration ratio in the medium could affect the speciation of AlF_n^(3-n) complex.With the decrease in F^-/Al^(3+) concentration ratio, the coordination numbers of AlF_n^(3-n) decrease. Finally, the feasibility of fluoride detoxification by aluminum ion is verified.
