| 3 | Effect of shrub encroachment on leaf nutrient resorption in temperate wetlands in the Sanjiang Plain of Northeast China显示文摘Background:Nutrient resorption is an important plant nutrient conservation strategy in wetlands.However,how shrub encroachment alters plant nutrient resorption processes is unclear in temperate wetlands.Here,we collected green and senesced leaves of common sedge,grass,and shrub species in wetlands with high(50–65%)and low(20–35%)shrub covers in the Sanjiang Plain of Northeast China,and assessed the impact of shrub encroachment on leaf nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)resorption efficiency and proficiency at both plant growth form and community levels.Results:The effects of shrub cover on leaf nutrient resorption efficiency and proficiency were identical among shrubs,grasses,and sedges.Irrespective of plant growth forms,increased shrub cover reduced leaf N resorption efficiency and proficiency,but did not alter leaf P resorption efficiency and proficiency.However,the effect of shrub cover on leaf nutrient resorption efficiency and proficiency differed between plant growth form and community levels.At the community level,leaf N and P resorption efficiency decreased with increasing shrub cover because of increased dominance of shrubs with lower leaf nutrient resorption efficiency over grasses and sedges.Accordingly,community‑level senesced leaf N and P concentrations increased with elevating shrub cover,showing a decline in leaf N and P resorption proficiency.Moreover,the significant relationships between leaf nutrient resorption efficiency and proficiency indicate that shrub encroachment increased senesced leaf nutrient concentrations by decreasing nutrient resorption efficiency.Conclusions:These observations suggest that shrub encroachment reduces community‑level leaf nutrient resorp‑tion efficiency and proficiency and highlight that the effect of altered plant composition on leaf nutrient resorption should be assessed at the community level in temperate wetlands. | Le‑Lin Yu Xin‑Hou Zhang Fu‑Xi Shi Rong Mao | 2022 | Ecological Processes2022,11,1: | 0 |
| 4 | Chemical and biological diversity of new natural products from marine sponges:a review(2009–2018)显示文摘Marine sponges are productive sources of bioactive secondary metabolites with over 200 new compounds isolated each year,contributing 23%of approved marine drugs so far.This review describes statistical research,structural diversity,and pharmacological activity of sponge derived new natural products from 2009 to 2018.Approximately 2762 new metabolites have been reported from 180 genera of sponges this decade,of which the main structural types are alkaloids and terpenoids,accounting for 50%of the total.More than half of new molecules showed biological activities including cytotoxic,antibacterial,antifungal,antiviral,anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,enzyme inhibition,and antimalarial activities.As summarized in this review,macrolides and peptides had higher proportions of new bioactive compounds in new compounds than other chemical classes.Every chemical class displayed cytotoxicity as the dominant activity.Alkaloids were the major contributors to antibacterial,antifungal,and antioxidant activities while steroids were primarily responsible for pest resistance activity.Alkaloids,terpenoids,and steroids displayed the most diverse biological activities.The statistic research of new compounds by published year,chemical class,sponge taxonomy,and biological activity are presented.Structural novelty and significant bioactivities of some representative compounds are highlighted.Marine sponges are rich sources of novel bioactive compounds and serve as animal hosts for microorganisms,highlighting the undisputed potential of sponges in the marine drugs research and development. | Li‑Li Hong Ya‑Fang Ding Wei Zhang Hou‑Wen Lin | 2022 | Marine Life Science & Technology2022,4,3: | 0 |
| 5 | High adaptability of Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica to drought-induced soil nutrient deficiency显示文摘Background:Drought can exert a profound influence on soil nutrient availability,and understanding whether and how tree species adapt to this change is a critical priority for predicting the consequence of climate change on forest structure and function.The objective of this study was to examine the adaptability of Mongolian pine(Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica)to drought‑induced changes in soil nutrient availability from the perspective of root functions.Methods:We conducted a 7‑year precipitation manipulation experiment with three levels of throughfall reduction(0%,30%,and 50%)to simulate different drought intensities.We measured soil physicochemical properties and fineroot nutrient concentrations and biomass,and calculated the stoichiometric homeostatic regulation coefficient(1/H)of fine roots.Results:Drought reduced soil organic carbon(C),nitrogen(N),phosphorous(P)and inorganic N concentrations,as well as ratios of total N to total P,and available N to available P in the 0–20 cm soil layer.In contrast,drought had no significant effect on fine‑root N and P concentrations,and fine‑root biomass in the 0–40 cm soil layer.Fine roots displayed high homeostatic regulation coefficients of N(with 1/H values of 0.19 and 0)and P(with 1/H values of 0.33 and 0)concentrations in 0–20 and 20–40 cm soil layers,respectively.Conclusions:Our results indicate that drought leads to soil nutrient deficiency and the decoupling between N and P cycling,and provide evidence that Mongolian pine has high adaptability to drought‑induced decrease in soil nutrient availability by maintaining great fine‑root biomass to ensure sufficient nutrient uptake. | Jingling Zhang Guigang Lin Qiong Zhao De‑Hui Zeng | 2022 | Ecological Processes2022,11,1: | 0 |

| 8 | Mapping the potential for offshore aquaculture of salmonids in the Yellow Sea显示文摘Mariculture has been one of the fastest-growing global food production sectors over the past three decades.With the congestion of space and deterioration of the environment in coastal regions,offshore aquaculture has gained increasing attention.Atlantic salmon(Salmo salar)and rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss)are two important aquaculture species and contribute to 6.1%of world aquaculture production of finfish.In the present study,we established species distribution models(SDMs)to identify the potential areas for offshore aquaculture of these two cold-water fish species considering the mesoscale spatio-temporal thermal heterogeneity of the Yellow Sea.The values of the area under the curve(AUC)and the true skill statistic(TSS)showed good model performance.The suitability index(SI),which was used in this study to quantitatively assess potential offshore aquaculture sites,was highly dynamic at the surface water layer.However,high SI values occurred throughout the year at deeper water layers.The potential aquaculture areas for S.salar and O.mykiss in the Yellow Sea were estimated as 52,270±3275(95%confidence interval,CI)and 146,831±15,023 km^(2),respectively.Our results highlighted the use of SDMs in identifying potential aquaculture areas based on environmental variables.Considering the thermal heterogeneity of the environment,this study suggested that offshore aquaculture for Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout was feasible in the Yellow Sea by adopting new technologies(e.g.,sinking cages into deep water)to avoid damage from high temperatures in summer. | Shuang‑En Yu Shuang‑Lin Dong Zhi‑Xin Zhang Yu‑Yang Zhang Gianluca Sarà Jie Wang Yun‑Wei Dong | 2022 | Marine Life Science & Technology2022,4,3: | 2 |

| 11 | A novel approach for feature extraction from a gamma‑ray energy spectrum based on image descriptor transferring for radionuclide identification显示文摘This study proposes a novel feature extraction approach for radionuclide identification to increase the precision of identification of the gamma-ray energy spectrum set.For easier utilization of the information contained in the spectra,the vectors of the gamma-ray energy spectra from Euclidean space,which are fingerprints of the different types of radionuclides,were mapped to matrices in the Banach space.Subsequently,to make the spectra in matrix form easier to apply to image-based deep learning frameworks,the matrices of the gamma-ray energy spectra were mapped to images in the RGB color space.A deep convolutional neural network(DCNN)model was constructed and trained on the ImageNet dataset.The mapped gamma-ray energy spectrum images were applied as inputs to the DCNN model,and the corresponding outputs of the convolution layers and fully connected layers were transferred as descriptors of the images to construct a new classification model for radionuclide identification.The transferred image descriptors consist of global and local features,where the activation vectors of fully connected layers are global features,and activations from convolution layers are local features.A series of comparative experiments between the transferred image descriptors,peak information,features extracted by the histogram of the oriented gradients(HOG),and scale-invariant feature transform(SIFT)using both synthetic and measured data were applied to 11 classical classifiers.The results demonstrate that although the gamma-ray energy spectrum images are completely unfamiliar to the DCNN model and have not been used in the pre-training process,the transferred image descriptors achieved good classification results.The global features have strong semantic information,which achieves an average accuracy of 92.76%and 94.86%on the synthetic dataset and measured dataset,respectively.The results of the statistical comparison of features demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the peak-searching-based method,HOG,and SIFT on the synthetic and measured datasets. | Hao‑Lin Liu Hai‑Bo Ji Jiang‑Mei Zhang Cao‑Lin Zhang Jing Lu Xing‑Hua Feng | 2022 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2022,33,12: | 1 |
| 12 | Intervention effect of Zhuangfang Rugan Huaxian Granules on CCl_(4)compound factor‑induced liver fibrosis rat model and its effect on the expression ofα‑SMA and E‑Cadherin显示文摘Objective:To study the intervention effect of Zhuangfang Soft Liver and Fibrous Granules on CCl_(4)compound factor-induced liver fibrosis rat model and its effect onα-SMA and E-Cadherin protein expression.Methods:Forty-eight male Wistar rats were randomly divided into a blank group,a pathological model group and a group of 16 rats in each group.The rats in the pathological model group and the pellet group were injected subcutaneously with 40%carbon tetrachloride(CCl_(4))oil combined with peanut oil to establish an animal model of rat liver fibrosis,and the pellets were administered by gavage three times a week for 8 weeks from the 5th week.The expression of oxidative stress oxidase dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)was detected by enzyme-linked immunoassay(ELISA),and the expression ofα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)and E-calmodulin(E-Cadherin)was detected by RT-PCR andWestern Blot.expression.Results:Compared with the blank group,the serum ALT and AST levels of the rats in the pathological model group were significantly increased,and the serum ALT and AST levels of the rats in the soft liver and fibrous pellet group were significantly decreased(P<0.001).In the pathological model group,the lobular structure of liver tissue was mutilated and numerous liver fibrous tissues were abnormally proliferated,and the collagen fibers formed by the proliferation were confluent into dense fibrous intervals,thus turning into pseudolobular structure,and a large number of fatty degenerated hepatocytes of different shapes and sizes appeared inside the pseudolobular structure,and the diffuse infiltration of inflammatory cells was significant.Compared with the pathological model group,the degree of destruction of hepatic lobular structure was significantly reduced in the LBP group,and there were different degrees of proliferation of collagen fibrous tissue concentrated in the area from the central vein to the confluent area,and the fibrous septum was relatively loose,with a small amount of inflammatory cell infiltration,and the degree of infiltration was reduced compared with the pathological model group.Compared with the pathological model group,the SOD level was significantly higher in the group of liver softener and fibrous pellets compared with the pathological model group and the blank group(P<0.001),the MDA level was significantly lower in the group of liver softener and fibrous pellets compared with the pathological model group(P<0.001),the expression level ofα-SMA was significantly lower in the group of liver softener and fibrous pellets(P<0.001),and the expression level of E-Cadherin was significantly higher in the group of liver softener and fibrous pellets(P<0.001).Conclusion:Soft Liver Fibro Pellets can effectively inhibit liver fibrous tissue proliferation and reduce the serum ALT and AST levels in rats with CCl_(4)combined with peanut oil compound solution induced liver fibrosis,and its anti-liver fibrosis mechanism may be through protecting liver function,reducing the level of oxidative stress,down-regulating the expression ofα-SMA protein,up-regulating the expression of E-cadherin protein,and inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition epithelial mesenchymal transformation(EMT)and thus exerting therapeutic effects on CCl_(4)compound-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats. | ZHANG Wen‑fu WU Shan‑shan DAI Ming LV Jian‑lin HUANG Jing‑jing LI Xiao‑long WANG Zhen‑chang | 2023 | Journal of Hainan Medical University2023,29,5: | 0 |

| 17 | Clinical epidemiology and disease burden of bronchiolitis in hospitalized children in China:a national cross-sectional study显示文摘Background Bronchiolitis is a common acute lower respiratory tract infection(ALRTI)and the most frequent cause of hospitalization of infants and young children with ALRTI.Respiratory syncytial virus is the main pathogen that leads to severe bronchiolitis.The disease burden is relatively high.To date,few descriptions of the clinical epidemiology and disease burden of children hospitalized for bronchiolitis are available.This study reports the general clinical epidemiological characteristics and disease burden of bronchiolitis in hospitalized children in China.Methods This study included the face sheet of discharge medical records collected from 27 tertiary children’s hospitals from January 2016 to December 2020 that were aggregated into the FUTang Update medical REcords(FUTURE)database.The sociodemographic variables,length of stay(LOS)and disease burden of children with bronchiolitis were analyzed and compared using appropriate statistical tests.Results In total,42,928 children aged 0–3 years were hospitalized due to bronchiolitis from January 2016 to December 2020,accounting for 1.5%of the total number of hospitalized children of the same age in the database during the period and 5.31%of the hospitalizations for ALRTI.The male to female ratio was 2.01:1.Meanwhile,more boys than girls were observed in different regions,age groups,years,and residences.The 1–2 year age group had the greatest number of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis,while the 29 days–6 months group had the largest proportion of the total inpatients and inpatients with ALRTI in the same age group.In terms of region,the hospitalization rate of bronchiolitis was the highest in East China.Overall,the number of hospitalizations from 2017 to 2020 showed a decreasing trend from that in 2016.Seasonally,the peak hospitalizations for bronchiolitis occurred in winter.Hospitalization rates in North China in autumn and winter were higher than those in South China,while hospitalization rates in South China were higher in spring and summer.Approximately,half of the patients with bronchiolitis had no complications.Among the complications,myocardial injury,abnormal liver function and diarrhea were more common.The median LOS was 6 days[interquartile range(IQR)=5–8],and the median hospitalization cost was 758 United States dollars(IQR=601.96–1029.53).Conclusions Bronchiolitis is a common respiratory disease in infants and young children in China,and it accounts for a higher proportion of both total hospitalizations and hospitalizations due to ALRTI in children.Among them,children aged 29 days–2 years are the main hospitalized population,and the hospitalization rate of boys is significantly higher than that of girls.The peak season for bronchiolitis is winter.Bronchiolitis causes few complications and has a low mortality rate,but the burden of this disease is heavy. | Jiao Tian Xin‑Yu Wang Lin‑Lin Zhang Meng‑Jia Liu Jun‑Hong Ai Guo‑Shuang Feng Yue‑Ping Zeng Ran Wang Zheng‑De Xie | 2023 | World Journal of Pediatrics2023,19,9: | 1 |
| 18 | Diferences and similarities of high-resolution computed tomography features between pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients显示文摘Background:Accurately diferentiating pneumocystis from cytomegalovirus pneumonia is crucial for correct therapy selection in AIDS patients.Hence,the goal of this study was to compare the computerized tomography(CT)features of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients and identify clinical hallmarks to accurately distinguish these two pathologies.Methods:A total of 112 AIDS patients(78 with pneumocystis pneumonia and 34 cytomegalovirus pneumonia)at Beijing Ditan Hospital from January 2017 to May 2019 were included in this study.Two experienced chest radiologists retrospectively reviewed CT images for 17 features including ground-glass opacity,consolidation,nodules,and halo sign.Binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify the signifcant parameters that distinguished pneumocystis pneumonia from cytomegalovirus pneumonia.Correlations were analyzed by Pearson or Spearman correlation analyses.Result were considered signifcant if P<0.05.Results:The presence of consolidation,halo signs,and nodules(all P<0.05)were signifcantly more frequent in patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia than in those with pneumocystis pneumonia.Small nodules(32.5%in cytomegalovirus pneumonia,6.41%in pneumocystis pneumonia,P<0.001)without perilymphatic distribution were particularly common in patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia.Large nodules were not found in any of patients with cytomegalovirus pneumonia.The presence of ground-glass opacity,reticulation,and bronchial wall thickening(all P>0.05)were common in both groups.Conclusions:Analysis of consolidation,nodules,and halo signs may contribute to the diferential diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia or cytomegalovirus pneumonia.However,some CT features considered typical in one or other diseases appear with similar frequency in both cohorts of AIDS patients.CT features are potentially useful for the diferential diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients. | Chun‑Jing Du Jing‑Yuan Liu Hui Chen Shuo Yan Lin Pu Hao‑Feng Xiong Pan Xiang Chuan‑Sheng Li Ming Zhang Ru‑Ming Xie Bu‑Dong Chen Ang Li | 2020 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,5: | 1 |

| 20 | Establishment of an indicator framework for global One Health Intrinsic Drivers index based on the grounded theory and fuzzy analytical hierarchy-entropy weight method显示文摘Background:One Health has become a global consensus to deal with complex health problems.However,the pro‑gress of One Health implementation in many countries is still relatively slow,and there is a lack of systematic evalua‑tion index.The purpose of this study was to establish an indicator framework for global One Health Intrinsic Drivers index(GOH-IDI)to evaluate human,animal and environmental health development process globally.Method:First,82 studies were deeply analyzed by a grounded theory(GT)method,including open coding,axial coding,and selective coding,to establish a three-level indicator framework,which was composed of three selective codes,19 axial codes,and 79 open codes.Then,through semi-structured interviews with 28 health-related experts,the indicators were further integrated and simplifed according to the inclusion criteria of the indicators.Finally,the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process combined with the entropy weight method was used to assign weights to the indi‑cators,thus,forming the evaluation indicator framework of human,animal and environmental health development process.Results:An indicator framework for GOH-IDI was formed consisting of three selective codes,15 axial codes and 61 open codes.There were six axial codes for“Human Health”,of which“Infectious Diseases”had the highest weight(19.76%)and“Injuries and Violence”had the lowest weight(11.72%).There were four axial codes for“Animal Health”,of which“Animal Epidemic Disease”had the highest weight(39.28%)and“Animal Nutritional Status”had the low‑est weight(11.59%).Five axial codes were set under“Environmental Health”,among which,“Air Quality and Climate Change”had the highest weight(22.63%)and“Hazardous Chemicals”had the lowest weight(17.82%).Conclusions:An indicator framework for GOH-IDI was established in this study.The framework were universal,balanced,and scientifc,which hopefully to be a tool for evaluation of the joint development of human,animal and environmental health in diferent regions globally. | Jiaxin Feng Zhaoyu Guo Lin Ai Jingshu Liu Xiaoxi Zhang Chunli Cao Jing Xu Shang Xia Xiao‑Nong Zhou Jin Chen Shizhu Li | 2022 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2022,11,6: | 0 |
