3Volume change behavior of unsaturated soils under non-isothermal conditions显示文摘With the development of modern geotechnical engineering practices such as the construction of high level radioactive waste repositories, exploitation and utilization of geothermal resources, energy-saving buildings and underground storage of CO 2 , research into the influence of temperature on the basic mechanical properties of unsaturated soils has become an important issue internationally. By using the work expression and considering the influence of temperature on the basic properties of unsaturated soils, the average soil skeleton stress, modified suction and temperature were selected as state variables of generalized forces in thermodynamics and the soil skeleton strain, saturation and entropy were chosen as state variables of generalized flows conjugate to the variables of generalized forces. Based on the nonlinear multi-field coupled model and by using existing experimental results, an elastic-plastic constitutive model of unsaturated soils under non-isothermal conditions was developed to analyze the influence of temperature on the deformation properties of unsaturated soils. 4A nonlinear multi-field coupled model for soils显示文摘A nonlinear multi-field coupled model for multi-constituent three-phase soils is derived by using the hybrid mixture theory. The balance equations with three levels (constituents, phases and the whole mixture soil) are set up under the assumption that soil is composed of multi-constituent elastic-plastic solid skeleton (which is different from the linearization method) and viscous liquid and ideal gas. With reasonable constitutive assumptions in such restrictive conditions as the principles of determinism, equipresence, material frame-indifference and the compatible principle in continuum mechanics, a theoretical framework of constitutive relations modeling three-phase soil in both non-equilibrium and equilibrium states is established, thus the closed field equations are formed. In the theoretical framework, the concept of effective generalized thermodynamic forces is introduced, and the nonlinear coupling constitutive relations between generalized dissipation forces and generalized flows within the system at nonequilibrium state are also presented. On such a basis, four special coupling relations, i.e., solid thermal elastic-plastic constitutive relation, liquid visco-elastic-plastic constitutive relation, the generalized Fourier’s law, and the generalized Darcy’s law are put forward. The generalized or nonlinear results mentioned above can degenerate into the linear coupling results given by Bennethum and Singh. Based on a specific dissipation function, the concrete form of generalized Darcy’s law is deduced, which may degenerate into the traditional form of Darcy’s law by neglecting the influence of skeleton deformation and temperature. 6The input work expression and the thermodynamics-based modelling framework for unsaturated expansive soils with double porosity显示文摘In this paper, based on the porous media theory, the specific expressions of the total stress and the input work of unsaturated expansive soils with double porosity are proposed, and then the energy-conjugate variables are further derived. We make distinctions between the effects of capillary water and adsorbed water on the soil behaviour, as well as between the deformations of microand macrostructure. 7Isolation and characterization of Sporobolomyces sp. LF1 capable of degrading chlorimuron-ethyl显示文摘A yeast strain which was capable of degrading sulfonylurea herbicide chlorimuron-ethyl named as LF1 was isolated from a chlorimuron-ethyl contaminated soil near the warehouse of the factory producing chlorimuron-ethyl in Shenyang City,Northeast China. The strain was identified as Sporobolomyces sp.,based on its morphological and physiological characteristics and the phylogenetic analysis of 18S rRNA gene sequence.So far,this is the only yeast strain of Sporobolomyces sp.which is able to degrade chlorimuron-ethyl.Incubation tests showed that when the initial concentration of chlorimuron-ethyl in culture was 5 mg/L,LF1 could degrade more than 77%of the herbicide after incubation for 4 d at 30°C.The possible mechanism of chlorimuron-ethyl degradation by LF1 could be the acidic hydrolysis caused by the acids from the metabolism of the yeast strain.Further study should be conducted to examine the pathways of chlorimuron-ethyl degradation by LF1 and to approach the feasibility of using LF1 to degrade the chlorimuron-ethyl in soil system.ZHANG Xiaoli ZHANG Huiwen LI Xu SU Zhencheng WANG Jingjing ZHANG Chenggang 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9:10
8Estimation of net primary productivity and its driving factors in the Ili River Valley,China显示文摘Net primary productivity(NPP), as an important variable and ecological indicator in grassland ecosystems, can reflect environmental change and the carbon budget level. The Ili River Valley is a wetland nestled in the hinterland of the Eurasian continent, which responds sensitively to the global climate change. Understanding carbon budget and their responses to climate change in the ecosystem of Ili River Valley has a significant effect on the adaptability of future climate change and sustainable development. In this study, we calculated the NPP and analyzed its spatio-temporal pattern of the Ili River Valley during the period 2000–2014 using the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) and an improved Carnegie-Ames-Stanford(CASA) model. Results indicate that validation showed a good performance of CASA over the study region, with an overall coefficient of determination(R2) of 0.65 and root mean square error(RMSE) of 20.86 g C/(m^2·a). Temporally, annual NPP of the Ili River Valley was 599.19 g C/(m^2·a) and showed a decreasing trend from 2000 to 2014, with an annual decrease rate of –3.51 g C/(m^2·a). However, the spatial variation was not consistent, in which 55.69% of the areas showed a decreasing tendency, 12.60% of the areas remained relatively stable and 31.71% appeared an increasing tendency. In addition, the decreasing trends in NPP were not continuous throughout the 15-year period, which was likely being caused by a shift in climate conditions. Precipitation was found to be the dominant climatic factor that controlled the inter-annual variability in NPP. Furthermore, the correlations between NPP and climate factors differed along the vertical zonal. In the medium-high altitudes of the Ili River Valley, the NPP was positively correlated to precipitation and negatively correlated to temperature and net radiation. In the low-altitude valley and high-altitude mountain areas, the NPP showed a negative correlation with precipitation and a weakly positive correlation with temperature and net radiation. 10Impact of acetochlor on ammonia-oxidizing bacteria in microcosm soils显示文摘Acetochlor is an increasingly used herbicide on corn in North China. Currently, the effect of acetochlor on soil ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) communities is not well documented. Here, we studied the diversity and community composition of AOB in soil amended with three concentrations of acetochlor (50, 150, 250 mg/kg) and the control (0 mg acetochlor/kg soil) in a microcosm experiment by PCR-DGGE (polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis) and the phylogenetic analysis of excised DGGE bands. DGGE profiles showed that acetochlor had a stimulating effect on AOB at the early stage after acetochlor amended, and the order of intensity and duration is medium-acetochlor amended samples (AM) > low-acetochlor amended samples (AL) > high-acetochlor amended samples (AH). At the end of 60 d microcosm, acetochlor had a negative effect on the diversity of AOB. Cluster analysis of DGGE profiles showed that acetochlor had a greater effect on the community structure of AOB on day 60 than on day 1. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that all the sequences of excised DGGE bands were closely related to members of the genus Nitrosospira and formed two separate subclusters designated as subcluster 1 and subcluster 2 affiliated respectively with clusters 3 and 4 in Nitrosospira as defined by Stephen. Some dominant AOB had a change from subcluster 2 to subcluster 1 with the incubation. 13Impact of land use/cover changes on carbon storage in a river valley in arid areas of Northwest China显示文摘Soil carbon pools could become a CO_2 source or sink, depending on the directions of land use/cover changes. A slight change of soil carbon will inevitably affect the atmospheric CO_2 concentration and consequently the climate. Based on the data from 127 soil sample sites, 48 vegetation survey plots, and Landsat TM images, we analyzed the land use/cover changes, estimated soil organic carbon(SOC) storage and vegetation carbon storage of grassland, and discussed the impact of grassland changes on carbon storage during 2000 to 2013 in the Ili River Valley of Northwest China. The results indicate that the areal extents of forestland, shrubland, moderate-coverage grassland(MCG), and the waterbody(including glaciers) decreased while the areal extents of high-coverage grassland(HCG),low-coverage grassland(LCG), residential and industrial land, and cultivated land increased. The grassland SOC density in 0–100 cm depth varied with the coverage in a descending order of HCG>MCG>LCG.The regional grassland SOC storage in the depth of 0–100 cm in 2013 increased by 0.25×1011 kg compared with that in 2000. The regional vegetation carbon storage(S_(rvc)) of grassland was 5.27×10~9 kg in2013 and decreased by 15.7% compared to that in 2000. The vegetation carbon reserves of the under-ground parts of vegetation(S_(ruvb)) in 2013 was 0.68×10~9 kg and increased by approximately 19.01%compared to that in 2000. 14High Efficient Methods of Content-based 3D Model Retrieval显示文摘Content-based 3D model retrieval is of great help to facilitate the reuse of existing designs and to inspire designers during conceptual design. However, there is still a gap to apply it in industry due to the low time efficiency. This paper presents two new methods with high efficiency to build a Content-based 3D model retrieval system. First, an improvement is made on the 'Shape Distribution (D2)' algorithm, and a new algorithm named 'Quick D2' is proposed. Four sample 3D mechanical models are used in an experiment to compare the time cost of the two algorithms. The result indicates that the time cost of Quick D2 is much lower than that of D2, while the descriptors extracted by the two algorithms are almost the same. Second, an expandable 3D model repository index method with high performance, namely, RBK index, is presented. On the basis of RBK index, the search space is pruned effectively during the search process, leading to a speed up of the whole system. The factors that influence the values of the key parameters of RBK index are discussed and an experimental method to find the optimal values of the key parameters is given. Finally, '3D Searcher', a content-based 3D model retrieval system is developed. By using the methods proposed, the time cost for the system to respond one query online is reduced by 75% on average. The system has been implemented in a manufacturing enterprise, and practical query examples during a case of the automobile rear axle design are also shown. 15AlN Precipitates and Microstructure in Non-oriented Electrical Steels Produced by Twin-roll Casting Process显示文摘Aluminum nitride(AlN) precipitates and microstructure of 4 wt.%(Si+Al) non-oriented electrical steel were investigated.The 2.0 mm thick cast strips with three different silicon/aluminum(Si/Al) ratios were produced by twin-roll casting process,then the strips were reheated,warm rolled,cold rolled and annealed.The microstructure and AlN precipitates were characterized using optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.The results showed that with the increase of Si/Al ratio,on the one hand,the casting microstructure changed from columnar grains to equiaxed grains,and the uniformity of annealed microstructure was improved;On the other hand,the number of AlN precipitates in cast strips reduced meanwhile the distribution became dispersed.By the reheat treatment,the size and distribution of the AlN precipitates can be changed.Moreover,the grain size of the annealed strips is in the range of 20-50 μm,at the same time,many AlN precipitates were located at grain boundaries.Therefore,controlling the Si/Al ratio is a simple method to obtain desired microstructure.Then AlN precipitates in non-oriented electrical steel prepared by twin-roll casting process hinder markedly the recrystallized grains growth.A compatible reheat treatment can be an approach worth exploring to control the behavior of AlN precipitates.Ting ZHANG Xiaoming ZHANG Zhiyuan GUO Yuqian WANG Chenggang LI Liangyun LAN 2013Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2013,26,4:5
16The microfacies and sedimentary responses to the mass extinction during the Permian-Triassic transition at Yangou Section, Jiangxi Province, South China显示文摘A Permian-Triassic(P-Tr) boundary section of continuous carbonate facies, which well recorded the biotic and environmental processes through the great P-Tr transition in the shallow non-microbialite carbonate facies, has been studied in Yangou, Leping County, Jiangxi Province. The P-Tr sequence is well correlated with the Meishan section according to the conodont biostratigraphy and the excursion of carbon isotopes. A series of high-resolution thin-sections from the P-Tr boundary carbonate rocks at the Yangou section are studied to explore the interrelation between environmental change and biological evolution during the transitional time. Six microfacies have been identified based upon the observation of the thin-sections under a microscope on the grains and matrix and their interrelation. Combined with the data of fossils and carbon isotopes, Microfacies 4(MF-4), coated-grain-bearing foraminifer oolitic sparitic limestone, and Microfacies 6(MF-6), dark shelly micritic limestone, should be the different responses to the two episodes of mass extinction and environmental events that can be correlated throughout South China and even over the world. The oolitic limestone of MF-4 is the first finding from the latest Permian strata in South China and it might be a proxy of an unusual environmental condition of high pCO2, low sulfate concentration and of microbial blooming in the aftermath of the latest Permian mass extinction. The micritic limestone of MF-6 containing rich micro-gastropods and ostracods probably represents the blooming event of disaster taxa in the earliest Triassic environment. 17The biogeochemical behavior of dissolved aluminum in the southern Yellow Sea:Influence of the spring phytoplankton bloom显示文摘Many recent studies have investigated the nutrient-type profiles of dissolved aluminum(Al) in the ocean.Significant scavenging of dissolved Al can occur during phytoplankton blooms,but the mechanism remains unclear.The distribution of dissolved Al in the southern Yellow Sea(SYS) was investigated in winter and spring 2009.Following measurements at grid stations during the spring sampling cruise,two drifting anchor surveys of more than 100 h were conducted to trace the variation of dissolved Al concentration during the spring phytoplankton bloom(SPB).The concentration of dissolved Al in the SYS decreased from 40 nmol/L in February to 30 nmol/L in March and 10-20 nmol/L in April,while the concentration of Chl a increased from < 2 μg/L in March to > 4 μg/L in April.The concentration of dissolved Al in the SYS decreased significantly with the development of the phytoplankton bloom,which indicated biological scavenging of dissolved Al from water column.The proportion of dissolved Al scavenged from water column by different phytoplankton species differed at the two drifting stations,with greater removal efficiency demonstrated by diatoms than dinoflagellates.Phytoplankton samples collected from the Chl a maximum layer were washed with trace metal clean reagent(oxalate-EDTA-citrate,abbreviate as oxalate solution,Tovar-Sanchez et al.,2003) to enable the surface-scavenged(extracellular) and intracellular Al pools associated with phytoplankton to be differentiated.Thirty-nine to ninetysix percent of the total Al was found to be existed in the interior pools,which indicated that biological absorption was the important way to scavenge dissolved Al during phytoplankton blooms in the SYS.LI FaMing REN JingLing YAN Li LIU SuMei LIU ChengGang ZHOU Feng ZHANG Jing 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,2:4
18The lifestyle transition of Arthrobotrys oligospora is mediated by microRNA-like RNAs显示文摘The lifestyle transition of fungi,defined as switching from taking organic material as nutrients to pathogens,is a fundamental phenomenon in nature.However,the mechanisms of such transition remain largely unknown.Here we show microRNA-like RNAs(milRNAs)play a key role in fungal lifestyle transition for the first time.We identified milRNAs by small RNA sequencing in Arthrobotrys oligospora,a known nematode-trapping fungus.Among them,7 highly expressed milRNAs were confirmed by northern-blot analysis.Knocking out two milRNAs significantly decreased A.oligospora’s ability to switch lifestyles.We further identified that two of these milRNAs were associated with argonaute protein QDE-2 by RNA-immunoprecipitation(RIP)analysis.Three of the predicted target genes of milRNAs were found in immunoprecipitation(IP)products of QDE-2.Disruption of argonaute gene qde-2 also led to serious defects in lifestyle transition.Interestingly,knocking out individual milRNAs or qde-2 lead to diverse responses under different conditions,and qde-2 itself may be targeted by the milRNAs.Collectively,it indicates the lifestyle transition of fungi is mediated by milRNAs through RNA interference(RNAi)machinery,revealing the wide existence of miRNAs in fungi kingdom and providing new insights into understanding the adaptation of fungi from scavengers to predators and the mechanisms underlying fungal infections.Xinglai Ji Heng Li Weihua Zhang Jiai Wang Lianming Liang Chenggang Zou Zefen Yu Shuqun Liu Ke-Qin Zhang 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,4:4
19A model considering solid-fluid interactions stemming from capillarity and adsorption mechanisms in unsaturated expansive clays显示文摘Solid-fluid interactions in unsaturated expansive clays can be divided into capillarity and adsorption effects based on their physical mechanisms. Most constitutive models for unsaturated soils are proposed on the basis of the capillarity mechanism, ignoring the contributions of the adsorption effect to mechanical and hydraulic behaviors. For expansive clays, however, the adsorption effect which leads to more complex behavioral characteristics than that in low plasticity clays cannot be ignored. In the light of this, a new binary-medium model for unsaturated expansive clays is proposed, involving a consideration of the solid-fluid interactions stemming from the capillary and the adsorption mechanisms at the same time.Firstly, we assume that expansive clay is a mixture of two ideal parts, i.e. the ideal capillarity part and the ideal adsorption part, and then an ideal capillarity model and an ideal adsorption model, each of which is available for the corresponding ideal part, are established. Furthermore, a participation function is used to reflect the degrees of capillarity effect and adsorption effect.
