| 1 | CapOX as neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced operable colon cancer patients: a prospective single-arm phase Ⅱ trial显示文摘Objective: The aim of this prospective, single-arm phase II trial was to confirm the safety and efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) using oxaliplatin plus capecitabine(Cap OX) for patients with operable locally advanced colon cancer(CC).Methods: Patients with computed tomography-defined T4 or lymph node-positive CCs were enrolled. After radiological staging, patients were treated with at least 2 cycles of NAC consisting of 130 mg/m2 oxaliplatin on d 1,plus 1,000 mg/m2 capecitabine twice daily for 14 d every 3 weeks, followed by surgery, and then with the rest cycles of adjuvant chemotherapy. Radiological response was evaluated after 2 cycles of NAC. Tumor response, treatment toxicity, and surgical complications were recorded. The pathological response to therapy was evaluated according to the tumor regression grade(TRG) score. The primary endpoint was pathologic tumor response. This trial is registered in Clinical Trials.gov(No: NCT02415829).Results: Forty-seven patients were enrolled in the study. Forty-two patients completed the planned treatments.The total radiological response rate was 68%(32/47), including complete and partial response rates of 2%(1/47)and 66%(31/47), respectively. Stable disease was observed in 32%(15/47) and progressive disease was observed in none. Complete pathologic response, major regression, and at least moderate regression were achieved in 1(2%), 2(4%), and 29(62%) patients, respectively. Four patients developed grade 3 treatment toxicities. One patient with wound infection occurred after operation(1/47, 2%). | 2 | Artemisinin derivatives inhibit epithelial ovarian cancer cells via autophagy-mediated cell cycle arrest显示文摘Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC)is the most fatal gynecologic malignancy due to its late diagnosis and lack of curative therapy.The antimalaria compound artemisinin and its derivatives,such as artesunate (ART)and dihydroartemisinin (DHA),have proven to be potent anticancer drugs and act through various anticancer mechanisms.To identify novel targets of artemisinin derivatives in EOC cells,we investigated the effects of ART and DHA on SKOV3 and primary EOC cell growth via CCK-8 assay.Both ART and DHA inhibited EOC cell growth.A cell cycle distribution analysis showed that ART and DHA caused G2/M cell cycle arrest.Moreover,ART and DHA induced autophagy in EOC cells,whereas autophagy inhibitors reversed the cell growth inhibition and cell cycle arrest induced by ART and DHA.Western blot analysis showed that ART and DHA also suppressed the cell cycle-related NF-κB-signaling pathway in EOC cells.These data suggest that artemisinin derivatives induce autophagy,block the cell cycle,and inhibit cell growth in EOC cells.Our research provides new targets for artemisinin derivatives for EOC treatment. | Boning Li Shixia Bu Junyan Sun Ying Guo Dongmei Lai | 2018 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2018,50,12: | 11 |
| 3 | Mitochondrial tRNA^(Glu) A14693G variant may modulate the phenotypic manifestation of deafness-associated 12S rRNA A1555G mutation in a Han Chinese family显示文摘Mutations in mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene are one of the most important causes of aminoglycoside-induced and nonsyndromic hear- ing loss. Here we report the characterization of one Han Chinese pedigree with aminoglycoside-induced and nonsyndromic hearing loss. This Chinese family carrying the 12S rRNA A1555G mutation exhibited high penetrance and expressivity of hearing impairment. In par- ticular, penetrances of hearing loss in this family pedigree were 43.8% and 25%, respectively, when aminoglycoside-induced hearing loss was included or excluded. Mutational analysis of entire mitochondrial genomes in this family showed the homoplasmic A1555G mutation and a set of variants belonging to haplogroup Y2. Of these, the A14693G variant occurred at the extremely conserved nucleotide (conven- tional position 54) of the TΨC-loop of tRNAGlu and was absent in 156 Chinese controls. Nucleotides at position 54 of tRNAs are often modified, thereby contributing to the structural formation and stabilization of functional tRNAs. Thus, the structural alteration of tRNA by the A14693G variant may lead to a failure in tRNA metabolism and impair mitochondrial protein synthesis, thereby worsening mito- chondrial dysfunctions altered by the A1555G mutation. | 5 | Hydrophobic, mechanical, and tribological properties of fluorine incorporated hydrogenated fullerene-like carbon films显示文摘Fluorine-incorporated hydrogenated fullerene-like nanostructure amorphous carbon films(F-FLC)were synthesized by employing the direct current plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(dc-PECVD)technique using a mixture of methane(CH4),tetra-fluoromethane(CF4),and hydrogen(H2)as the working gases.The effect of the fluorine content on the bonding structure,surface roughness,hydrophobic,mechanical,and tribological properties of the films was systematically investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Raman analysis,atomic force microscope(AFM),contact angle goniometer,nano-indenter,and reciprocating ball-on-disc tester,respectively.The fluorine content in the films increased from 0 to 2.1 at.%as the CF4 gas flow ratio increased from 0 to 3 sccm,and incorporated fluorine atoms existed in the form of C-FX(X=1,2,3)bonds in the film.The fullerene nanostructure embedded in the hydrogenated amorphous carbon films was confirmed by Raman analysis.The water contact angle was significantly increased because of fluorine doping,which indicates that the hydrophobicity of the carbon films could be adjusted to some extent by the fluorine doping.The hardness and elastic modulus of the films remained relatively high(22 GPa)as the fluorine content increased.Furthermore,the friction coefficient of the carbon films was significantly reduced and the wear resistance was enhanced by fluorine doping. | Li QIANG Bin ZHANG Kaixiong GAO Zhenbin GONG Junyan ZHANG | 2013 | Friction2013,1,4: | 6 |

| 7 | Intensity and Importance of Competition for a Grass (Festuca rubra) and a Legume (Trifolium pratense) Vary with Environmental Changes显示文摘How plant competition varies across environmental gradients has been a long debate among ecologists. We conducted a growth chamber experiment to determine the intensity and importance of competition for plants grown in changed environmental conditions. Festuca rubra and Trifolium pratense were grown in monoculture and in two-and/or three-species mixtures under three environmental treatments. The measured competitive variations in terms of growth(height and biomass) were species-dependent. Competition intensity for Festuca increased with decreased productivity,whilst competition importance displayed a humpback response. However,significant response was detected in neither competition intensity nor importance for Trifolium. Intensity and importance of competition followed different response patterns,suggesting that they may not be correlated along an environmental gradient. The biological and physiological variables of plants play an important role to determine the interspecific competition associated with competition intensity and importance. The receiver can cover Group#3, Group#4 for WiMedia and Group#2–5 for China UWB standard respectively. The fully differential receiver consists of a wideband LNA and a down conversion mixer with high gain and low gain mode. A low-pass filter with controllable gain and cut-o? frequency along with a programmable gain amplifier are also included. The chip was fabricated in TSMC 0.13-μm RF CMOS process. Measurement results show that the receiver achieves voltage gain from 21 to 69 dB with 2 dB/step and an NF of 3.2–4.6 dB over 6.2–9.5 GHz and 1-dB compression point of ?21 dBm. The intermediate frequency of the receiver can be switched between 264 and 132 MHz, which enables the receiver applicable for both WiMedia and China UWB standard. | 12 | Effects ofβ-alanine on intestinal development and immune performance of weaned piglets显示文摘Beta-alanine is an important amino acid involved in several metabolic reactions in the body.The study aimed to investigate the effect ofβ-alanine supplementation on intestinal development and the immune performance of weaned piglets.Thirty-two 21-day-old healthy weaned piglets(half female and half male;Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire)with an initial body weight of 8.11±0.21 kg were randomly divided into 4 groups with 8 replicates of 1 pig each.The control group was fed a basal diet and the three experimental treatment groups were fed diets supplemented with 300,600 and 1,200 mg/kgβ-alanine,respectively.The trial lasted 28 days and the diets fed were divided into 2 phases:the late lactation period(day 1 to 14)and the nursery period(day 15 to 28),during which the weaned piglets had free access to food and water.The regulatory effects ofβ-alanine were further investigated in vitro using organoids obtained from the jejunum of piglets.In vivo,the addition ofβ-alanine to the diet had no significant effect on the growth performance of weaned piglets(P>0.05),but significantly reduced serum levels of immunoglobulin G(IgG)(P<0.01),immunoglobulin M(IgM)(P=0.005),and complement 3(C3)(P=0.017).The serum interleukin-6(IL-6)levels(P<0.01)were significantly reduced in the 1,200 mg/kg treatment group.The addition ofβ-alanine increased ileal villus height,with the most significant effect at a concentration of 300 mg/kg(P=0.041).The addition of 600 mg/kgβ-alanine significantly up-regulated the expression of superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity(P=0.020)and the zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)gene(P=0.049)in the jejunum.Diets supplemented with 300 mg/kgβ-alanine significantly increased the number of Ki67 positive cells in the jejunal crypts(P<0.01).In vitro,β-alanine increased the organoid budding rates(P=0.001)and the budding height of the crypt significantly(P=0.004).In conclusion,β-alanine can improve intestinal morphology and barrier function,reduce inflammatory responses and alleviate the adverse effects of weaning stress on piglet intestinal health. | Linlin Chen Yan Zhong Xiangqin Ouyang Chunfeng Wang Lanmei Yin Jing Huang Yali Li Qiye Wang Junyan Xie Pengfei Huang Huansheng Yang Yulong Yin | 2023 | Animal Nutrition2023,,1: | 2 |

The proposed current-mode transmitter consists of current-mode IQ LPF, current mirror amplifier, IQ up-conversion mixer (up-mixer), differential power driver amplifier (PA) and high-speed divider with LO buffers for generating IQ LO signals. All circuits are designed to possess high linearity and wide bandwidth. The transmitter is fabricated in TSMC 0.13 μm 1P8M RF CMOS technology with a die area of 1.56 mm2. | 14 | Morphology,Chemistry and U-Pb Geochronology of Zircon Grains in Quartz Monzodiorite from the Sunzhuang Area,Fanshi County,Shanxi Province显示文摘The morphology, REE geochemistry and U-Pb geochronology of zircons from quartz monzodiorite in the Sunzhuang area, Fanshi County, Shanxi Province are presented in this study. The zircon crystals can be classified into four main types as: AB, L, S and P, and 24 subtypes such as AB4, AB5, L5, and S3. The maximum crystallization temperature of zircon was estimated as 850°C, with the minimum of 550°C. The peak temperatures of the zircon crystallization range from 650°C to 700°C. The abundances of Th and U in the zircon grains show large variation with the Th/U values > 0.4. The Th and U values also show a positive correlation in most zircons. The REE abundance of zircon in the quartz monzodiorite ranges from 280.4 ppm to 2143 ppm with an average of 856.4 ppm. The chondrite normalized zircon REE patterns show two types, one is characterized by HREE enrichment and LREE depletion with positive Ce-anomaly and negative Eu-anomaly whereas the other is HREE enriched and LREE depleted with negative Eu-anomaly but without positive Ce-anomaly, and relatively flat patterns. The LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology on the zircons yields a mean age of 133±0.87 Ma. Our data on zircon morphology, composition and U-Pb geochronology reveal that the parent magma of the quartz monzodiorite which was emplaced during late Yanshanian had a mixed crust-mantle source, with crustal components dominating. The magma is inferred to have been water rich and alkaline with initial high oxygen fugacity. | 15 | A comparison of the toxicity of landfill leachate exposure at the seed soaking and germination stages on Zea mays L.(maize)显示文摘To compare the toxicity of landfill leachate exposure at the early stages of seed soaking and germination on maize,a field experiment was conducted to evaluate the physiological aspects of growth,yield and potential clastogenicity of root-tip cells. The maizes were treated with leachate at levels of 2%,10%,20%,30% or 50%(V/V). First,the change of physiological indexes,including chlorophyll(Chl),Malondialdehyde(MDA)and Reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels,combined with yield all showed that soaking with leachate,but not germination,generated a greater ecological risk on maize. After a soaking treatment of maize with 50% leachate,the Chl,MDA and ROS levels during a vigorous growth period were 47.3%,149.8% and 309.7%,respectively,of the control,whereas the yield decreased to 68.6% of the control. In addition,our results demonstrated that the leachate at lower levels could promote growth. This is mainly embodied in that the yield of maize treated with 10%leachate at the soaking stage increased to 116.0% of the control. Moreover,the cytological analysis experiment also demonstrated that the ecological risk of leachate still exists in both cases. Furthermore,the gray relational analysis showed that the ear row number and tassel branch number were the major factors affecting the yield of maize treated with 50%leachate at the stages of soaking and germination,respectively.
