1Mechanism of calcium mitigating membrane fouling in submerged membrane bioreactors显示文摘Two parallel membrane bioreactors (MBRs) were operated under different calcium dosages (168.5, 27 mg/L) to gain a better understanding of the mechanism of retarding membrane fouling by adding calcium. The results showed that the particle size of sludge flocs increased and the particle size distribution tended to be narrow at the optimum dosage (168.5 mg/L). Calcium was effective in decreasing loosely bound extracellular polymeric substances (LB-EPS) in microbial flocs and soluble microbial products (SMP) in the supernatant at the dosage of 168.5 mg/L by strengthening the neutralization and bridging of EPS with flocs. Furthermore, the amount of CODS and CODC decreased in both the mixed liquor and the fouling cake layer on the membrane surface. In order to compare the filtration characteristics of cake layers from the MBRs with the two calcium dosages, the specific cake resistance and the compressibility coefficient were measured. The specific cake resistance from the MBR with optimum dosage (168.5 mg/L) was distinctly lower than that with low dosage (27 mg/L). The compressibility coefficient of the cake layers under two dosages were respectively attained as 0.65, 0.91. 2Fast start-up anammox process using Acyl-homoserine lactones(AHLs) containing supernatant显示文摘N-dodecanoyl homoserine lactone(C_(12)-HSL)was detected in the supernatant of an anammox granular sludge reactor(AGSR).C_(12)-HSL could enhance the specific anammox activity of anammox biomass.Adding C_(12)-HSL-containing AGSR supernatant into the continuously stirred tank reactors reduced the start-up time of the anammox process from80 to 66 days.Moreover,the nitrogen loading rate was also enhanced to 1.6 times that of the control reactor.AHLs could increase the secretion of extracellular polymeric substances and anammox obtained better enrichment with the addition of AHLs-containing AGSR supernatant.Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis analysis further revealed that AHLs played a role in mediating microbial community parameters.In conclusion,adding AHL-containing supernatant could be an effective and economical way to accelerate the start-up of anammox.Ran Zhao Hanmin Zhang Fan Zhang Fenglin Yang 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,3:7
3Effect of Microstructure of Composite Powders on Microstructure and Properties of Microwave Sintered Alumina Matrix Ceramics显示文摘Two kinds of different structured alumina—titania composite powders were used to prepare alumina matrix ceramics by microwave sintering.One was powder mixture of alumina and titania at a micron—submicron level,in which fused-and-crushed alumina particles(micrometers) was clad with submicron-sized titania.The other was powder mixture of alumina and titania at nanometer—nanometer level,in which nano-sized alumina and nano-sized titania particles were homogeneously mixed by ball-milling and spray dried to prepare spherical alumina—titania composite powders.The effect of the microstructure of composite powders on microstructure and properties of microwave sintered alumina matrix ceramics were investigated.Nano-sized composite(NC) powder showed enhanced sintering behavior compared with micro-sized composite(MC) powders.The asprepared NC ceramic had much denser,finer and more homogenous microstructure than MC ceramic.The mechanical properties of NC ceramic were significantly higher than that of MC ceramic,e.g.the flexural strength,Vickers hardness and fracture toughness of NC ceramic were 85.3%,130.3%and 25.7%higher than that of MC ceramic,respectively.The improved mechanical properties of NC ceramic compared with that of MC ceramic were attributed to the enhanced densification and the finer and more homogeneous microstructure through the use of the nanostructured composite powders.Hanmin Bian Yong Yang You Wang Wei Tian Haifu Jiang Zhijuan Hu Weimin Yu 2013Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,5:2
