Genetic analysis and gene mapping of a dominant presenescing leaf gene PSL3 in rice (Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘Leaf senescence as an active process is essential for plant survival and reproduction. However, premature senility is harmful to agricultural production. In this study,a rice mutant, named as psl3 (presescing leaf 3) isolated from EMS-treated Jinhui 10,displays obvious premature senility features both in morphological and physiological level.Genetic analysis showed that mutant trait was controlled by a single dominant gene (PSL3),which was located on rice chromosome 7 between SSR marker c7sr1 and InDel marker ID10 with an interval of 53.5 kb.The result may be useful for the isolation of the PSL3 gene. | FANG LiKui LI YunFeng GONG XiaoPing SANG XianChun LING YingHua WANG XiaoWen CONG YunFei HE GuangHua | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,23: | 20
Recent Advance in Studies on Angelica sinensis显示文摘Angelicae Sinensis Radix (ASR) is the root of Angelica sinensis which is a fragrant and perennial herb native to China, Japan, and Korea. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the plant is useful for replenishing and invigorating blood, relieving pain, and moistening the intestines, resulting in its application for the treatment of menstrual disorders, and as an emollient and laxative for chronic constipation of the aged and debilitated. An in-depth review of the literature brings to light a great number of chemical constituents that have been isolated from ASR as well as both preclinical (in vivo and in vitro) and clinical studies, which over the years, have sought to investigate the medicinal relevance of some of these phytoconstituents and/or extract(s) prepared from ASR. The purpose of this review is therefore to present some major pharmacological and pharmacokinetic research findings on some selected phytoconstituents of ASR with emphasis on the current trends in terms of research techniques or design. This review would also provide a wealth of information for users/practitioners of TCM regarding the use of ASR or its products for maximum efficiency and minimal toxicity or side effects. | Ling FANG Xue-feng XIAO Chang-xiao LIU Xin HE | 2012 | Chinese Herbal Medicines2012,4,1: | 18

Clinical Value of Whole-body Magnetic Resonance Diffusion Weighted Imaging on Detection of Malignant Metastases显示文摘Objective To evaluate the value of whole-body diffusion weighted imaging(WB-DWI) on detection of malignant metastasis. Methods Forty-six patients with malignant tumors underwent WB-DWI examinations between April 2007 and August 2007 in our hospital. Before WB-DWI examination, the primary cancers of all the patients were confirmed by pathology, and the TNM-stage was assessed with conventional magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) or computed tomography(CT).WB-DWI was performed using short TI inversion recovery echo-planar imaging(STIR-EPI) sequence.Abnormal high signal intensities on WB-DWI were considered as metastases. The results of WB-DWI were compared with other imaging modalities. For the assessment of the diagnostic capability of WB-DWI,WB-DWI were compared with CT for demonstrating mediastinal lymph node metastases and lung metastases, and with conventional MRI for demonstrating metastases in other locations. Results WB-DWI demonstrated 143 focuses,14 of which were diagnosed to be benign lesions in routine imaging. The number of bone metastases depicted on WB-DWI and routine imaging was 85 and 86;lymph node metastases was 17 and 18;liver metastases was 14 and 14;lung metastases was 4 and 8;and brain metastases was 6 and 8,respectively.WB-DWI failed to detect 12 metastatic lesions including 3 osteoplastic bone metastases,4 lung metastases,3 mediastinal lymph node metastases, and 2 brain metastases.Four metastatic lesions including 2 deltopectoral lymph nodes and 2 rib metastases were detected with WB-DWI alone, all of which evolved greatly during clinical follow-up for more than 6 months.WB-DWI had higher detection rates for metastatic lesions in liver, bone, and lymph nodes than those in lung and brain(χ2=30,P<0.001).Conclusions WB-DWI could detect most of metastatic lesions that were diagnosed with conventional MRI and CT.The limitations of WB-DWI might be had high false-positive rate and low efficiency in detecting mediastinal lymph node, brain, and lung metastases. | Cheng Li Zhen-sheng Liu Xian-mao Du Ling He Jian Chen Wei Wang Fei Sun Fang Du Zhi-gang Luo Zhen-long Xue Yi Zhao Chang-wu Zhou | 2009 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2009,24,2: | 11
Development and validation of an endoscopic images-based deep learning model for detection with nasopharyngeal malignancies显示文摘Background:Due to the occult anatomic location of the nasopharynx and frequent presence of adenoid hyperpla-sia,the positive rate for malignancy identification during biopsy is low, thus leading to delayed or missed diagnosis for nasopharyngeal malignancies upon initial attempt. Here,we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence tool to detect nasopharyngeal malignancies under endoscopic examination based on deep learning. Methods:An endoscopic images-based nasopharyngeal malignancy detection model(eNPM-DM)consisting of a fully convolutional network based on the inception architecture was developed and fine-tuned using separate training and validation sets for both classification and segmentation.Briefly,a total of 28,966 qualified images were collected.Among these images,27,536 biopsy-proven images from 7951 individuals obtained from January 1st,2008,to December 31st,2016,were split into the training, validation and test sets at a ratio of 7:1:2 using simple randomiza-tion.Additionally,1430 images obtained from January 1st,2017,to March 31st,2017,were used as a prospective test set to compare the performance of the established model against oncologist evaluation. The dice similarity coef-ficient(DSC)was used to evaluate the efficiency of eNPM-DM in automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images,by comparing automatic segmentation with manual segmenta-tion performed by the experts. Results:All images were histopathologically confirmed, and included 5713(19.7%)normal control,19,107(66.0%)nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),335(1.2%)NPC and 3811(13.2%)benign diseases. The eNPM-DM attained an overall accuracy of 88.7%(95%confidence interval(CI)87.8%-89.5%)in detecting malignancies in the test set.In the prospective comparison phase,eNPM-DM outperformed the experts:the overall accuracy was 88.0%(95%CI 86.1%-89.6%)vs.80.5%(95%CI 77.0%-84.0%).The eNPM-DM required less time(40 s vs.110.0±5.8 min)and exhibited encouraging performance in automatic segmentation of nasopharyngeal malignant area from the background, with an average DSC of 0.78±0.24 and 0.75±0.26 in the test and prospective test sets, respectively. Conclusions:The eNPM-DM outperformed oncologist evaluation in diagnostic classification of nasopharyngeal mass into benign versus malignant, and realized automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images. | Chaofeng Li Bingzhong Jing Liangru Ke Bin Li Weixiong Xia Caisheng He Chaonan Qian Chong Zhao Haiqiang Mai Mingyuan Chen Kajia Cao Haoyuan Mo Ling Guo Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Wenze Qiu Yahui Yu Hu Liang Xinjun Huang Guoying Liu Wangzhong Li Lin Wang Rui Sun Xiong Zou Shanshan Guo Peiyu Huang Donghua Luo Fang Qiu Yishan Wu Yijun Hua Kuiyuan Liu Shuhui Lv Jingjing Miao Yanqun Xiang Ying Sun Xiang Guo Xing Lv | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 9

Transcriptome analysis of blood stasis syndrome in subjects with hypertension显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To screen for m RNAs associated with blood stasis syndrome and to explore the genetic mechanisms of blood stasis syndrome in hypertension.METHODS:This study involved groups of patients with hypertension and blood stasis, including those with Qi deficiency,Qi stagnation, cold retention and heat retention;as well as hypertensive patients without blood stasis and healthy individuals.Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were co-cultured with the sera of these healthy individuals and patients with blood stasis syndrome.Total RNA was extracted from these cells and assessed by a high-throughput sequencing method(Solexa)and digital gene expression.Differentially expressed genes among these six groups were compared using whole genome sequences, and m RNAs associated with blood stasis syndrome identified.Differences in gene use and gene ontology function were an-alyzed.Genes enriched significantly and their pathways were determined,as were network interactions, and encoded proteins.Gene identities were confirmed by real-time polymerase chain reactions.RESULTS:Compared with cells cultured in sera of the blood stasis groups, those culture in sera of healthy individuals and of the non-blood stasis group showed 11 and 301 differences, respectively in stasis-related genes.Genes identified as differing between the blood stasis and healthy groups included activating transcription factor 4,activating transcription factor 3,DNA-damage inducible transcription factor 3,Tribbles homolog 3,CCAAT/enhancer binding protein-β,and Jun proto-oncogene(JUN).Pathway and protein interaction network analyses showed that these genes were associated with endoplasmic reticulum stress.Cells cultured in sera of patients with blood stasis and Qi deficiency,Qi stagnation, heat retention, and cold retention were compared with cells cultured in sera of patients with the other types blood stasis syndrome. The comparison showed differences in expression of 28,28,34,and 32 specific genes, respectively.CONCLUSION:The pathogenesis of blood stasis syndrome in hypertension is related to endoplasmic reticulum stress and involves the differential expression of the activating transcription factor 4,activating transcription factor 3,DNA-damage inducible transcription factor 3,Tribbles homolog 3,CCAAT/enhancer binding protein-β,and JUN genes. | He Ling Fang Meixia Chen Liguo Zhou Jianhua Yuan Jing Xu Jing Shan Yan Xu Qingyun Xiong Tingting | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,2: | 7
Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients. The validity of the PG-SGA in Chinese cancer patients warrants further investigation in other cancer types. | Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group | 2016 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2016,1,1: | 7
Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Gastric Cancer Patients显示文摘Purpose Malnutrition is severe among gastric cancer patients in China. While the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a widely used nutritional assessment tool, the validation for Chinese patients with gastric cancer has not been performed yet. The aim of this research is to validate the Chinese version of the PGSGA in Chinese gastric cancer patients by conducting analyses of nutrition screening and assessment data. Methods Two thousand consecutive adult patients with gastric cancer were included in this observational, cross-sectional study in several tertiary hospitals in China. A survey was made among those patients, which included several questionnaires and some anthropometric parameters. We calculated the parameters to validate the use of PG-SGA categorizing the nutritional status of gastric cancer patients. Then we performed statistical analysis to evaluate the internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity. Results This study verified the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate gastric cancer patients into different nutritional groups. The confirmatory factor analysis verified the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. The internal and external consistency was measured by a concordance analysis which showed an intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) of 0.987. The correlations of the Box 4 score with the Karnofsky performance status score demonstrated alternative form validity with good external consistency (Pearson, r = 0.643, P < 0.001). All three anthropometric dimensions of the PG-SGA were supported by principal component analysis. Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were significant in the majority of tests. Conclusion The Chinese version of the PG-SGA is a valid tool to access the patients’ nutritional status for Chinese gastric patients. | Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group | 2018 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2018,3,4: | 5
Factors dominating bacterioplankton abundance and production in the Nordic seas and the Chukchi Sea in summer 2012显示文摘Abundance and production of bacterioplankton were measured in the Nordic seas and Chukchi Sea during the5 th Chinese Arctic Research Expedition in summer 2012.The results showed that average bacterial abundances ranged from 3.31×10^(11) cells/m^3 to 2.25× 10^(11)cells/m^3,and average bacterial productions(calculated by carbon)were 0.46 mg/(m^3·d) and 0.54 mg/(m^3·d) in the Nordic seas and Chukchi Sea,respectively.T-test result showed that bacterial abundances were significantly different between the Nordic seas and Chukchi Sea,however,no significant difference was observed regarding bacterial productions.Based on the slope of lg bacterial biomass versus lg bacterial production, bacterial communities in the Nordic seas and Chukchi Sea were moderately dominated by bottom-up control. Both Pearson correlation analysis and multivariable linear regression indicated that temperature had significant positive correlation with bacterial abundance in the Chukchi Sea,while no correlations with productions in both areas.Meanwhile,Chl a had positive correlations with both bacterial abundance and production in these two regions. As the temperature and Chl a keep changing in the future,we suggest that both bacterial abundance and production been hanced in the Chukchi Sea but weaken in the Nordic seas, though the enhancement will not be dramatic as a result of higher pressure of predation and viral lysis. | GAO Yuan HE Jianfeng CHEN Min LIN Ling ZHANG Fang | 2017 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2017,36,8: | 4
Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody predicts the development of rheumatoid arthritis in patients with undifferentiated arthritis显示文摘Background:Clinical outcomes of undifferentiated arthritis(UA)are diverse, and only 40%of patients with UA develop rheumatoid arthritis(RA)after 3 years.Discovering predictive markers at disease onset for further intervention is critical. Therefore, our objective was to analyze the clinical outcomes of UA and ascertain the predictors for RA development. Methods:We performed a prospective,multi-center study from January 2013 to October 2016 among Chinese patients diagnosed with UA in 22 tertiary-care hospitals.Clinical and serological parameters were obtained at recruitment.Follow-up was undertaken in all patients every 12 weeks for 2 years.Predictive factors of disease progression were identified using multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression. Results:A total of 234 patients were recruited in this study, and 17(7.3%)patients failed to follow up during the study.Among the 217 patients who completed the study,83(38.2%)patients went into remission.UA patients who developed RA had a higher rheumatoid factor(RF)-positivity(42.9%vs.16.8%,χ^2=8.228,P=0.008),anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide(CCP)antibodypositivity(66.7%vs.10.7%,χ^2=43.897,P<0.001),and double-positivity rate of RF and anti-CCP antibody(38.1%vs.4.1%,χ^2=32.131,P<0.001)than those who did not.Anti-CCP antibody but not RF was an independent predictor for RA development(hazard ratio 18.017,95%confidence interval:5.803–55.938;P<0.001).Conclusion:As an independent predictor of RA,anti-CCP antibody should be tested at disease onset in all patients with UA. | Chun Li Yan Zhang Hui Song Jie Gao Dong-Bao Zhao Qi Zhu Dong-Yi He Li Wang Xiang-Pei Li Xu-Dong Liu Wei-Guo Xiao Xin-Yu Wu Hua-Xiang Wu Wei Tu Shao-Xian Hu Xin Wang Zhi-Jun Li Zhi-Min Lu Zhan-Yun Da Bo Liang Xiao-Min Liu Jin-Wei Zhao Ling Li Feng Han Wu-Fang Qi Wei Wei Xu Ma Zhen-Bin Li Gui-Min Zheng Feng-Xiao Zhang Yi Li You-Lian Wang Guang-Hui Ling Jin-Wei Chen Xiao-Qiang Hou Jing Zhang Qing-Ping Chen Chang-Lian Liu Yan Zhang Jia-Shun Zeng Qing-Hua Zou Yong-Fei Fang Yin Su Zhan-Guo Li | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,24: | 4

Flow cytometry investigation of picoplankton across latitudes and along the circum Antarctic Ocean显示文摘Using a flow cytometer (FCM) onboard the R/V Xuelong during the 24th Chinese Antarctic cruise, picoplankton community structure and biomass in the surface water were examined along the latitude and around the Antarctic Ocean. Salinity and temperature were automatically recorded and total Chl a was determined. Along the cruise, the abundance of Synechococcus, Prochlorococcus, pico-eukaryotes and heterotrophic bacteria ranged in 0.001-1.855 × 10 8 ind./L, 0.000-2.778 × 10 8 ind./L, 0.002-1.060 × 10 8 ind./L and 0.132-27.073 × 10 8 ind./L, respectively. Major oceanic distribution of Synechococcus and Prochlorococcus appeared between latitudes 30 N and 30 S. Prochlorococcus was mainly influenced by water temperature, water mass combination and freshwater inflow. Meanwhile, Synechococcus distribution was significantly associated with landing freshwater inflow. Pico-eukaryotes and heterotrophic bacteria were distributed all over the oceans, but with a relatively low abundance in the high latitudes of the Antarctic Ocean. Principal Component Analysis showed that at same latitude of Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean, picoplankton distribution and constitution were totally different, geographical location and different water masses combination would be main reasons. | LIN Ling HE Jianfeng ZHAO Yunlong ZHANG Fang CAI Minghong | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,1: | 3

An elderly female patient with diabetic neph- ropathy presented with severe pain, numbness, and an increasing swelling in the left hip and left thigh after six ses- sions of hemodialysis involving the use of an antiplatelet drug and an anticoagulant agent. Her hemoglobin decreased to 46 g/L. An abdominal ultrasound showed a hematoma in the left retroperitoneal space, and computed tomography (CT) findings revealed a 6 cm×8 cm×10 cm hematoma in the left psoas muscle. After aggressive supportive therapy [the administration of packed red blood cell transfusion, carbazochrome sodium sulfonate injection, and continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH)], the patient's vital signs stabilized and her hemoglobin increased to 86 g/L. Repeat CT showed that the hematoma had been partially absorbed after two weeks. Eventually, the patient was discharged with stable vital signs. Physicians should be aware of the possibility of spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage, particularly in patients with diabetic nephropathy undergoing hemodialysis involving the use of anticoagulant agents. | Wen-xing FAN Zheng-xu DENG Fang LIU Rong-bo LIU Ling HE Bogati AMRIT Li ZANG Jing-wen LI Xian-rong LIU Song-min HUANG Ping FU | 2012 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2012,13,5: | 3 |
