1A complete sequence and comparative analysis of a SARS-associated virus(Isolate BJ01)显示文摘The genome sequence of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)-associated virus provides essential information for the identification of pathogen(s), exploration of etiology and evolution, interpretation of transmission and pathogenesis, development of diagnostics, prevention by future vaccination, and treatment by developing new drugs. We report the complete genome sequence and comparative analysis of an isolate (BJ01) of the coronavirus that has been recognized as a pathogen for SARS. The genome is 29725 nt in size and has 11 ORFs (Open Reading Frames). It is composed of a stable region encoding an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (composed of 2 ORFs) and a variable region representing 4 CDSs (coding sequences) for viral structural genes (the S, E, M, N proteins) and 5 PUPs (putative uncharacterized proteins). Its gene order is identical to that of other known coronaviruses. The sequence alignment with all known RNA viruses places this virus as a member in the family of Coronaviridae. Thirty putative substitutions have been identified by comparative analysis of the 5 SARS- associated virus genome sequences in GenBank. Fifteen of them lead to possible amino acid changes (non-synonymous mutations) in the proteins. Three amino acid changes, with predicted alteration of physical and chemical features, have been detected in the S protein that is postulated to beinvolved in the immunoreactions between the virus and its host. Two amino acid changes have been detected in the Mprotein, which could be related to viral envelope formation. Phylogenetic analysis suggests the possibility of non-human origin of the SARS-associated viruses but provides noevidence that they are man-made. 2Pathways of Influence of the Northern Hemisphere Mid–high Latitudes on East Asian Climate: A Review显示文摘This paper reviews recent progress made by Chinese scientists on the pathways of influence of the Northern Hemisphere mid-high latitudes on East Asian climate within the framework of a“coupled oceanic-atmospheric(land-atmospheric or seaice-atmospheric)bridge”and“chain coupled bridge”.Four major categories of pathways are concentrated upon,as follows:Pathway A—from North Atlantic to East Asia;Pathway B—from the North Pacific to East Asia;Pathway C—from the Arctic to East Asia;and Pathway D—the synergistic effects of the mid-high latitudes and tropics.In addition,definitions of the terms“combined effect”,“synergistic effect”and“antagonistic effect”of two or more factors of influence or processes and their criteria are introduced,so as to objectively investigate those effects in future research.Jianping LI Fei ZHENG Cheng SUN Juan FENG Jing WANG 2019Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2019,36,9:27
3Facile Synthesis of Porous Carbon Nitride Spheres with Hierarchical Three-Dimensional Mesostructures for CO_(2) Capture显示文摘Porous carbon nitride(CN)spheres with partially crystalline frameworks have been successfully synthesized via a nanocasting approach by using spherical mesoporous cellular silica foams(MCFs)as a hard template,and ethylenediamine and carbon tetrachloride as precursors.The resulting spherical CN materials have uniform diameters of ca.4μm,hierarchical three-dimensional(3-D)mesostructures with small and large mesopores with pore diameters centered at ca.4.0 and 43 nm,respectively,a relatively high BET surface area of~550 m^(2)/g,and a pore volume of 0.90 cm^(3)/g.High-resolution transmission electron microscope(HRTEM)images,wide-angle X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns,and Raman spectra demonstrate that the porous CN material has a partly graphitized structure.In addition,elemental analyses,X-ray photoelectron spectra(XPS),Fourier transform infrared spectra(FT-IR),and CO_(2) temperature-programmed desorption(CO_(2)-TPD)show that the material has a high nitrogen content(17.8 wt%)with nitrogen-containing groups and abundant basic sites.The hierarchical porous CN spheres have excellent CO_(2) capture properties with a capacity of 2.90 mmol/g at 25℃and 0.97 mmol/g at 75℃,superior to those of the pure carbon materials with analogous mesostructures.This can be mainly attributed to the abundant nitrogen-containing basic groups,hierarchical mesostructure,relatively high BET surface area and stable framework.Furthermore,the presence of a large number of micropores and small mesopores also enhance the CO_(2) capture performance,owing to the capillary condensation effect.Qiang Li Jianping Yang Dan Feng Zhangxiong Wu Qingling Wu Sung Soo Park Chang-Sik Ha Dongyuan Zhao 2010Nano Research2010,3,9:24

6Forecast scheme and strategy for extended-range predictable components显示文摘Although extended-range forecasting has exceeded the limit of daily predictability of weather,there are still partially predictable characteristics of meteorological fields in such forecasts.A targeted forecast scheme and strategy for extended-range predictable components is proposed.Based on chaotic characteristics of the atmosphere,predictable components and unpredictable random components are separated by using the standpoint of error growth in a numerical model.The predictable components are defined as those with slow error growth at a given range,which are not sensitive to small errors in initial conditions. A numerical model for predictable components(NMPC)is established,by filtering random components with poor predictability.The aim is to maintain predictable components and avoid the influence of rapidly growing forecast errors on small scales. Meanwhile,the analogue-dynamical approach(ADA)is used to correct forecast errors of predictable components,to decrease model error and statistically take into account the influence of random components.The scheme is applied to operational dynamical extended-range forecast(DERF)model of the National Climate Center of China Meteorological Administration (NCC/CMA).Prediction results show that the scheme can improve forecast skill of predictable components to some extent, especially in high predictability regions.Forecast skill at zonal wave zero is improved more than for ultra-long waves and synoptic-scale waves.Results show good agreement with predictability of spatial scale.As a result,the scheme can reduce forecast errors and improve forecast skill,which favors operational use.ZHENG ZhiHai HUANG JianPing FENG GuoLin CHOU JiFan 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,5:9

8A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 9Endemic Amphibians and Their Distribution in China显示文摘Amphibians are good indicators of ecosystem health. Updating the information of endemic species in time and understanding their spatial distributions are necessary for the development of integrative conservation strategies and the elucidation of geographic patterns of amphibians. We analyzed the diversity and distributions of the endemic amphibians in China based on a database of specimen records, recently published literature, and field surveys. Two hundred and sixty two endemic species of amphibians, belonging to 59 genera in 12 families and two orders, are recognized. They account for 67% of the total number of amphibian species in China, with the family Megophryidae possessing the largest number of endemics. There are also 17 genera endemic to China. Across provinces, the species richness of endemics shows five levels with a hierarchical diversification. Sichuan has the largest number of endemics, while Heilongjiang and Jilin have no endemic species. Alternatively, whether on the level of endemic genus or species, the highest diversity occurs in the Western Mountains and Plateau Subregion. The distribution ranges of most endemic species cover ≤ 4 provinces or zoogeographic subregions. Additionally, the species richness of endemics along an elevational gradient shows a bell-shaped pattern with the peak around 800 m. Most endemic species are distributed in areas of low to mid elevation(c. 700–1 500 m), while 36 species are distributed up to 3 000 m. Endemic species richness decreases with increasing of elevation range. Species at mid elevations display large range sizes, while species at lower and higher elevations exhibit smaller ranges. Our results are to be beneficial for further exploration of the underlying mechanisms of distributional patterns of amphibians in China. 10Carbon dioxide exchange processes over the grassland ecosystems in semiarid areas of China显示文摘Based on the carbon fluxes measured over the grassland ecosystems in Inner Mongolia(UG79 site),Loess Plateau(SACOL site),and Tongyu,Jilin Province(TY site) in the semiarid areas from 2007 to 2008 with the eddy covariance method,we have investigated the carbon exchange processes over semiarid grassland ecosystem and its main affecting environmental variables.The precipitations at UG79 and TY sites in 2007 were below the historical average,especially for TY site,which was 50% below the historical average annual precipitation.The precipitation in SACOL site was close to average in 2007 but below average in 2008.The variation of monthly diurnal average NEE showed that the diurnal mean NEE decreased in the order of TY site,UG79 site,and SACOL site.However,a longer net carbon uptake period was observed at SACOL site.The diurnal course of NEE at UG79 site was similar between 2007 and 2008.The diurnal average NEE remained large during July and August in growing season(May to September) at UG79 site,with maximum values approaching 0.08 mg C m-2 s-1 in August of 2008.The diurnal average NEE of 2007 was larger than 2008 at SACOL site,with maximum values of 0.07 mg C m-2 s-1 in September of 2007.A shorter carbon uptake period was recorded in 2007 at TY site,lasting from July to August.A larger diurnal average NEE occurred in 2008 at TY site,with maximum values of 0.12 mg C m-2 s-1.The ecosystem respirations of three sites were controlled by both soil temperature and soil volumetric water content(at a depth of 5 cm below the land surface).Both UG79 site and SACOL site acted as a carbon sink during the growing periods of 2007 and 2008.Annual NEE in the growing seasons of 2007 and 2008 ranged from-68 to-50 g C m-2 at UG79 site and from-109 to-55 g C m-2 at SACOL site.Alternation between carbon source and carbon sink was found at TY site,with respective values of annual NEE in the growing seasons of 0.32 g C m-2 and-73 g C m-2 in 2007 and 2008.The magnitude and duration of carbon uptake depended mainly on the amount and timing of precipitation and the timing of the first effective rainfall during the growing season in semiarid grassland ecosystems.DU Qun LIU HuiZhi WANG Lei HUANG JianPing ZHANG Wu Christian BERNHOFER 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,4:6
11Room-temperature continuous-wave electrically pumped InGaN/GaN quantum well blue laser diode directly grown on Si显示文摘Current laser-based display and lighting applications are invariably using blue laser diodes(LDs)grown on freestanding GaN substrates,which are costly and smaller in size compared with other substrate materials.1–3 Utilizing less expensive and large-diameter Si substrates for hetero-epitaxial growth of indium gallium nitride/gallium nitride(InGaN/GaN)multiple quantum well(MQW)structure can substantially reduce the cost of blue LDs and boost their applications.To obtain a high crystalline quality crack-free GaN thin film on Si for the subsequent growth of a blue laser structure,a hand-shaking structure was formed by inserting Al-composition step down-graded AlN/AlxGa1−xN buffer layers between GaN and Si substrate.Thermal degradation in InGaN/GaN blue MQWs was successfully suppressed with indium-rich clusters eliminated by introducing hydrogen during the growth of GaN quantum barriers(QBs)and lowering the growth temperature for the p-type AlGaN/GaN superlattice optical cladding layer.A continuous-wave(CW)electrically pumped InGaN/GaN quantum well(QW)blue(450 nm)LD grown on Si was successfully demonstrated at room temperature(RT)with a threshold current density of 7.8 kA/cm^(2).Yi Sun Kun Zhou Meixin Feng Zengcheng Li Yu Zhou Qian Sun Jianping Liu Liqun Zhang Deyao Li Xiaojuan Sun Dabing Li Shuming Zhang Masao Ikeda Hui Yang 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:5
12High efficiency generation of tunable ellipse perfect vector beams显示文摘We present a highly efficient method of generating and shaping ellipse perfect vector beams (EPVBs) with a prescribed ellipse intensity profile and continuously variant linear polarization state. The scheme is based on the coaxial superposition of two orthogonally polarized ellipse laser beams of controllable phase vortex serving as the base vector components. The phase-only computer-generated hologram is specifically designed by means of a modified iteration algorithm involving a complex amplitude constraint, which is able to generate an EPVB with high diffraction efficiency in the vector optical field generator. We experimentally demonstrate that the efficiency of generating the EPVB has a notable improvement from 1.83% in the conventional complex amplitude modulation based technique to 11.1% in our method. 13Age Structure of Females in a Breeding Population of Echinotriton chinhaiensis(Caudata:Salamandridae) and Its Conservation Implication显示文摘Knowledge of life history is important for understanding possible connections to population declines.Here,we investigated the female age structure and fecundity of Echinotriton chinhaiensis,one of the most endangered salamanders in the world,using skeletochronology based on specimens collected in 2008 and 2009 from a population in Ruiyansi,northeast of Ningbo,Zhejiang,China.The results showed that most female salamanders were between 5and 6 years of age,with the minimal reproductive age,predicted to be 3 years,and the clutch size correlated to the body size.We argue that both delayed attainment of sexual maturity and low fecundity make this species more vulnerable to extinction.Weizhao YANG Chang LIU Jianping JIANG Cheng LI Feng XIE 2011Asian Herpetological Research2011,2,2:4
14Initial scalar lithospheric magnetic anomaly map of China and surrounding regions derived from CSES satellite data显示文摘The China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite(CSES),China’s first satellite to measure geophysical fields with scientific goals in both space and solid earth physics,was launched successfully in February 2018.It carries high-precision magnetometers to measure the geomagnetic field.In this study,the CSES magnetic data were used to extract the signal of the lithospheric magnetic field caused by magnetized rocks in the crust and uppermost mantle.First,an along-track analysis of the CSES magnetic data was undertaken near the Bangui magnetic anomaly in central Africa and the Tarim magnetic anomaly in China,demonstrating that the CSES magnetic data are indeed sensitive to the lithospheric magnetic anomaly field.Then a lithospheric magnetic anomaly map over China and surrounding regions was derived.This map is consistent with the lithospheric part of the CHAOS-7 model.In particular,it clearly reveals four major magnetic anomalies containing long-wavelength signals at the altitude of lowearth-orbiting satellites.Three magnetic highs are located over the Tarim,Sichuan and Songliao basin,the origins of which could be related to large-scale tectonic-magmatic activities during geological history.A prominent magnetic low is otherwise found in the southern Himalayan-Tibetan plateau,possibly caused by the shallow Curie depth in this region.To further improve the precision of the lithospheric magnetic field model,more detailed data processing and multi-source data merging are needed.WANG Jie SHEN XuHui YANG YanYan ZEREN ZhiMa HULOT Gauthier OLSEN Nils ZHOU Bin MAGNES Werner DE SANTIS Angelo HUANG JianPing GUO Feng LIU WenLong YU JingBo 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,5:4

16Regorafenib-loaded poly(lactide-co-glycolide) microspheres designed to improve transarterial chemoembolization therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)has been widely introduced to treat hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)especially for unresectable patients for decades.However,TACE evokes an angiogenic response due to the secretion of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),resulting in the formation of new blood vessels and eventually tumor recurrence.Thus,we aimed to develop regorafenib(REGO)-loaded poly(lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA)microspheres that enabled localized and sustained drug delivery to limit proangiogenic responses following TACE in HCC treatment.REGO-loaded PLGA microspheres were prepared using the emulsion-solvent evaporation/extraction method,in which DMF was selected as an organic phase co-solvent.Accordingly,we optimized the proportion of DMF,which the optimal ratio to DCM was 1:9(v/v).After preparation,the microspheres provided high drug loading capacity of 28.6%,high loading efficiency of 91.5%,and the average particle size of 149μm for TACE.IR spectra and XRD were applied to confirming sufficient REGO entrapment.The in vitro release profiles demonstrated sustained drug release of microspheres for more than 30 d To confirm the role of REGO-loaded microspheres in TACE,the cell cytotoxic activity on HepG2 cells and anti-angiogenic effects in HUVECs Tube-formation assay were studied in combination with miriplatin.Moreover,the microspheres indicated the potential of antagonizing miriplatin resistance of HepG2 cells in vitro.Pharmacokinetics preliminary studies exhibited that REGO could be sustainably released from microspheres for more than 30d after TACE in vivo.In vivo anti-tumor efficacy was further determined in HepG2 xenograft tumor mouse model,demonstrating that REGO microspheres could improve the antitumor efficacy of miriplatin remarkably compared with miriplatin monotherapy.In conclusion,the obtained REGO microspheres demonstrated promising therapeutic effects against HCC when combined with TACE.Xiang Li Guangwei He Feng Su Zhaoxing Chu Leiming Xu Yazhong Zhang Jianping Zhou Yang Ding 2020Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2020,15,6:4
17Disordered Translocation is Hastening Local Extinction of the Chinese Giant Salamander显示文摘Biodiversity is declining globally by an unprecedented extinction rate.This is especially true for amphibians,accounting for 24.3%of all threatened vertebrates.As the largest extant amphibian species in the world,wild populations of the Chinese giant salamander(Genus Andrias)(CGS)have decreased dramatically because of overexploitation and habitat degradation.Translocation has become an important strategy for restoring threatened wild populations worldwide.However,disordered tra nsloca tion usually has negative effects on the native populations.We provide an overview of CGS translocation and show that disordered translocation can increase local population extinction.Nearly four times the estimated number of wild individuals have been released across China.There a re three types of translocation used for CGS,namely,reinforcement,reintroduction and ecological replacement,the last of which accounts for over one-third of translocations.Our genetic screening revealed that most released individuals were not from local populations,with one to four lineages detected in every release site(n=6).This disordered translocation can potentially reduce the genetic integrity of original populations.Hence,we suggest suspending current CGS translocation activities immediately,until more robust measures can be developed and implemented to improve the current translocation program,especially with respect to lineage identifica tion a nd the identifica tion of appropriate release sites.Guocheng SHU Ping LIU Tian ZHAO Cheng LI Yinmeng HOU Chunlin ZHAO Jie WANG Xiaoxiao SHU Jiang CHANG Jianping JIANG Feng XIE 2021Asian Herpetological Research2021,12,3:4
18Estimating abundance and density of Amur tigers along the Sino- Russian border显示文摘As an apex predator the Amur tiger(Panthera tigris altaica)could play a pivotal role in maintaining the integ­rity of forest ecosystems in Northeast Asia.Due to habitat loss and harvest over the past century,tigers rapidly declined in China and are now restricted to the Russian Far East and bordering habitat in nearby China.To fa­cilitate restoration of the tiger in its historical range,reliable estimates of population size are essential to assess effectiveness of conservation interventions.Here we used camera trap data collected in Hunchun National Na­ture Reserve from April to June 2013 and 2014 to estimate tiger density and abundance using both maximum likelihood and Bayesian spatially explicit capture-recapture(SECR)methods.A minimum of 8 individuals were detected in both sample periods and the documentation of marking behavior and reproduction suggests the presence of a resident population.Using Bayesian SECR modeling within the 11400 km2 state space,den­sity estimates were 0.33 and 0.40 individuals/100 km^(2) in 2013 and 2014,respectively,corresponding to an es­timated abundance of 38 and 45 animals for this transboundary Sino-Russian population.In a maximum likeli­hood framework,we estimated densities of 0.30 and 0.24 individuals/100 km^(2) corresponding to abundances of 34 and 27,in 2013 and 2014,respectively.These density estimates are comparable to other published estimates for resident Amur tiger populations in the Russian Far East.This study reveals promising signs of tiger recovery in Northeast China,and demonstrates the importance of connectivity between the Russian and Chinese popula­tions for recovering tigers in Northeast China.Wenhong XIAO Limin FENG Pu MOU Dale GMIQUELLE Mark HEBBLEWHITE Joshua FGOLDBERG Hugh SROBINSON Xiaodan ZHAO Bo ZHOU Tianming WANG Jianping GE 2016Integrative Zoology2016,11,4:4
19Influence of the NAO on Wintertime Surface Air Temperature over East Asia:Multidecadal Variability and Decadal Prediction显示文摘In this paper,we investigate the influence of the winter NAO on the multidecadal variability of winter East Asian surface air temperature(EASAT)and EASAT decadal prediction.The observational analysis shows that the winter EASAT and East Asian minimum SAT(EAmSAT)display strong in-phase fluctuations and a significant 60-80-year multidecadal variability,apart from a long-term warming trend.The winter EASAT experienced a decreasing trend in the last two decades,which is consistent with the occurrence of extremely cold events in East Asia winters in recent years.The winter NAO leads the detrended winter EASAT by 12-18 years with the greatest significant positive correlation at the lead time of 15 years.Further analysis shows that ENSO may affect winter EASAT interannual variability,but does not affect the robust lead relationship between the winter NAO and EASAT.We present the coupled oceanic-atmospheric bridge(COAB)mechanism of the NAO influences on winter EASAT multidecadal variability through its accumulated delayed effect of~15 years on the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO)and Africa-Asia multidecadal teleconnection(AAMT)pattern.An NAO-based linear model for predicting winter decadal EASAT is constructed on the principle of the COAB mechanism,with good hindcast performance.The winter EASAT for 2020-34 is predicted to keep on fluctuating downward until~2025,implying a high probability of occurrence of extremely cold events in coming winters in East Asia,followed by a sudden turn towards sharp warming.The predicted 2020/21 winter EASAT is almost the same as the 2019/20 winter.Jianping LI Tiejun XIE Xinxin TANG Hao WANG Cheng SUN Juan FENG Fei ZHENG Ruiqiang DING 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,4:4
