1Effect of viscosity,basicity and organic content of composite flocculant on the decolorization performance and mechanism for reactive dyeing wastewater显示文摘A coagulation/flocculation process using the composite flocculant polyaluminum chloride-epichlorohydrin dimethylamine (PACEPI-DMA) was employed for the treatment of an anionic azo dye (Reactive Brilliant Red K-2BP dye).The effect of viscosity (η),basicity (B=[OH]/[Al]) and organic content (WP) on the flocculation performance as well as the mechanism of PAC-EPI-DMA flocculant were investigated.The η was the key factor affecting the dye removal efficiency of PAC-EPI-DMA.PAC-EPI-DMA with an intermediate η (2400 mPa·sec) gave higher decolorization efficiency by adsorption bridging and charge neutralization due to the co-effect of PAC and EPI-DMA polymers.The W P of the composite flocculant was a minor important factor for the flocculation.The adsorption bridging of PAC-EPI-DMA with η of 300 or 4300 mPa·sec played an important role with the increase of W P,whereas the charge neutralization of them was weaker with the increase of W P.There was interaction between W P and B on the removal of reactive dye.The composite flocculant with intermediate viscosity and organic content was effective for the treatment of reactive dyeing wastewater,which could achieve high reactive dye removal efficiency with low organic dosage.Yuanfang Wang Baoyu Gao Qinyan Yue Yan Wang 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10:33
2Performance of dithiocarbamate-type flocculant in treating simulated polymer flooding produced water显示文摘Produced water from polymer flooding is difficult to treat due to its high polymer concentration,high viscosity,and emulsified characteristics.The dithiocarbamate flocculant,DTC (T403),was prepared by the amine-terminated polyoxypropane-ether compound known as Jeffamine-T403.The product was characterized by IR spectra and elemental analysis.The DTC agent chelating with Fe 2+ produced a network polymer matrix,which captured and removed oil droplets efficiently.Oil removal by the flocculent on simulated produced water with 0,200,500,900 mg/L of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) was investigated for aspects of effectiveness of DTC (T403) dosage and concentrations of HPAM and Fe 2+ ions in the wastewater.Results showed that HPAM had a negative influence on oil removal efficiency when DTC (T403) dosage was lower than 20 mg/L.However,residual oil concentrations in tested samples with different concentrations of HPAM all decreased below 10 mg/L when DTC (T403) dosage reached 30 mg/L.The concentration of Fe 2+ in the initial wastewater had a slight effect on oil removal at the range of 2-12 mg/L.Results showed that Fe 3+ could not be used in place of Fe 2+ as Fe 3+ could not react with DTC under flocculated conditions.The effects of mineral salts ions were also investigated.Baoyu Gao 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,1:18
3Effect of six kinds of scale inhibitors on calcium carbonate precipitation in high salinity wastewater at high temperatures显示文摘Precipitation of calcium carbonate(Ca CO3) scale on heat transfer surfaces is a serious and expensive problem widely occurring in numerous industrial processes. In this study, we compared the scale inhibition effect of six kinds of commercial scale inhibitors and screened out the best one(scale inhibitor SQ-1211) to investigate its scale inhibition performance in highly saline conditions at high temperature through static scale inhibition tests. The influences of scale inhibitor dosage, temperature, heating time and p H on the inhibition efficiency of the optimal scale inhibitor were investigated. The morphologies and crystal structures of the precipitates were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy and X-ray Diffraction analysis. Results showed that the scale inhibition efficiency of the optimal scale inhibitor decreased with the increase of the reaction temperature. When the concentration of Ca2+was 1600 mg/L, the scale inhibition rate could reach 90.7% at 80°C at p H 8. The optimal scale inhibitor could effectively retard scaling at high temperature. 4Influences of different forces on the bubble entrainment into a stationary Gaussian vortex显示文摘Simulations of bubble entrainment into a stationary Gaussian vortex are performed by using the combined particle tracking method(PTM)and boundary element method(BEM).Before the bubble is captured by the vortex core,oscillation and migration of the quasi-spherical nucleus are solved by using improved RP equation and the momentum theorem in the Lagrangian reference frame simultaneously,and the trajectory of the nucleus presents a kind of reduced helix shape.After captured by the vortex core,the bubble grows immediately and moves and deforms along the vortex core axis.The non-spherical evolution and deformation of the bubble is simulated by adopting a mixed Eulerian-Lagrangian method.The output of quasi-spherical stage is taken as the input of non-spherical stage,and all the behaviors of the entrained bubble can be simulated such as inception,motion,deformation and split.Numerical results agree well with published experimental data.On this basis,the influences of various factors such as viscosity,surface tension,buoyancy are studied systemically.Hopefully the results from this paper would provide some insight into the control on vortex bubble entrainment.ZHANG AMan NI BaoYu 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,11:15
5Dual-targeting and microenvironment-responsive micelles as a gene delivery system to improve the sensitivity of glioma to radiotherapy显示文摘Dbait is a small double-stranded DNA molecule that has been utilized as a radiosensitizer to enhance the sensitivity of glioma to radiotherapy(RT). However, there is no effective drug delivery system to effectively overcome the blood–brain barrier(BBB). The aim of this study was to develop a gene delivery system by using the BBB and glioma dual-targeting and microenvironment-responsive micelles(ch-Kn(s-s)R8-An) to deliver Dbait into glioma for RT. Angiopep-2 can target the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1(LRP1) that is overexpressed on brain capillary endothelial cells(BCECs) and glioma cells. In particular, due to upregulated matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP-2) in the tumor microenvironment, we utilized MMP-2-responsive peptides as the enzymatically degradable linkers to conjugate angiopep-2. The results showed that ch-Kn(s-s)R8-An micelles maintained a reasonable size(80–160 nm) with a moderate distribution and a decreased mean diameter from the cross-linking as well as exhibited low critical micelle concentration(CMC) with positive surface charge, ranging from 15 to40 mV. The ch-K5(s-s)R8-An/pEGFP showed high gene transfection efficiency in vitro, improved uptake in glioma cells and good biocompatibility in vitro and in vivo. In addition, the combination of ch-K5(s-s)R8-An/Dbait with RT significantly inhibited the growth of U251 cells in vitro. 7Coagulation behavior and floc properties of compound bioflocculant–polyaluminum chloride dual-coagulants and polymeric aluminum in low temperature surface water treatment显示文摘This study was intended to compare coagulation behavior and floc properties of two dualcoagulants polyaluminum chloride–compound bioflocculant(PAC–CBF)(PAC dose first) and compound bioflocculant–polyaluminum chloride(CBF–PAC)(CBF dose first) with those of PAC alone in low temperature drinking water treatment. Results showed that dualcoagulants could improve DOC removal efficiency from 30% up to 34%. Moreover, CBF contributed to the increase of floc size and growth rate, especially those of PAC–CBF were almost twice bigger than those of PAC. However, dual-coagulants formed looser and weaker flocs with lower breakage factors in which fractal dimension of PAC–CBF flocs was low which indicates a looser floc structure. The floc recovery ability was in the following order:PAC–CBF > PAC alone > CBF–PAC. 9Performance of bimetallic nanoscale zero-valent iron particles for removal of oxytetracycline显示文摘In this study, bimetallic nanoscale zero-valent iron particles(nZVI), including copper/nanoscale zero-valent iron particles(Cu/nZVI) and nickel/nanoscale zero-valent iron particles(Ni/nZVI), were synthesized by one-step liquid-phase reduction and applied for oxytetracycline(OTC) removal. The effects of contact time and initial p H on the removal efficiency were studied. The as-prepared nanoscale particles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). Finally, the degradation mechanisms of OTC utilizing the as-prepared nanoparticles were investigated by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and mass spectrometry(MS). Cu/n ZVI presented remarkable ability for OTC degradation and removed71.44% of OTC(100 mg/L) in 4 hr, while only 62.34% and 31.05% of OTC was degraded by Ni/nZVI and nZVI respectively. XPS and MS analysis suggested that OTC was broken down to form small molecules by ·OH radicals generated from the corrosion of Fe0. 10Robust cooperative spectrum sensing schemes for fading channels in cognitive radio networks显示文摘In cognitive radio systems, cooperative spectrum sensing can detect the presence of the primary user accurately. In practice, however, since the sensing observations are forwarded to a data collector through fading channels, the sensing performance is severely degraded. To deal with this problem, in this paper, we first propose a secondary user selection based cooperative spectrum sensing method to improve sensing performance by decreasing the reporting errors introduced by the fading channels. More specifically, only the secondary users with better signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for reporting channels are allowed to send their local binary decisions (0 or 1) to the data collector while the others will send nothing. Additionally, we further propose a diversity based cooperative spectrum sensing method which applies existing space-time coding. By exploiting space diversity in CR network, the reporting errors introduced by the fading channel can be decreased and then the sensing performance is improved significantly. For either proposed cooperative spectrum sensing method, the sensing performance is derived and the analytical performance results are given. 11Characterization of spontaneous otoacoustic emissions in 2–4 day old neonates with respect to gender and ear显示文摘BACKGROUND: Spontaneous otoacoustic emissions (SOAEs) are regarded as a valuable audio- metric parameter that objectively reflects the function of outer hair cells (OHCs). Many studies have reported that the incidence of SOAEs in adults is less than 50%. Therefore, measurement of SOAEs may be of little value to clinical examinations. However, the incidence of SOAEs in infants and neonates is higher than in adults. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the basic characteristics of SOAEs in 2–4 day old neonates, and to dem- onstrate the difference in OHC function between sexes and ears. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Neurophysiological contrast study, performed in the Department of Neonates, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University, between December 2007 and August 2008. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 112 newborns (224 ears) consisting of 59 females and 53 males were included in this study. METHODS: The probe was adapted and embedded in the neonate external auditory canal with a foam rubber earplug after checking and clearing up the outer ear canal. The presence of SOAEs was determined when the signal amplitude had a clear peak exceeding –30 dB, or was 3 dB above the noise floor. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The incidence of SOAEs, the number of SOAE signal peaks, and the maximal tension of SOAEs. RESULTS: The incidence in females (79.7%) was higher than males (76.4%) (P > 0.05), and the incidence in right ears (86.6%) was higher than in left ears (69.6%) (P < 0.05). There were no sig- nificant difference in the number of SOAE peaks between females and males (4.49 vs. 4.28), or between right ears and left ears (4.62 vs. 4.12) (P > 0.05). The mean maximum SOAE level per ear in females (–3.29 ± 9.28) dB sound pressure level (SPL) was slightly higher than that in males (–3.91 ± 9.14) dB SPL (P > 0.05). Also, the mean maximum SOAE level in right ears (–2.03 ± 9.11) dB SPL was higher than in left ears (–5.50 ± 9.65) dB SPL (P < 0.05). The maximum SOAE level showed a positive correlation with maximum SOAE number in emitting ears (r = 0.55, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The incidence of SOAEs in neonates is high (78.1%) within 4 days of birth. The in-cidence of SOAEs and the maximum SOAE level exhibited a significant difference between right and left ears, but the difference between sexes was insignificant. 12Adsorptive removal of phosphate by the bimetallic hydroxide nanocomposites embedded in pomegranate peel显示文摘This study aimed to fabricate new and effective material for the efficiency of phosphate adsorption.Two types of adsorbent materials,the zirconium hydroxides embedded in pomegranate peel(Zr/Peel)and zirconium-lanthanum hydroxides embedded in pomegranate peel(Zr-La/Peel)were developed.Scanning electronic microscopy(SEM),x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and x-ray diffraction(XRD)were evaluated to give insight into the physicochemical properties of these adsorbents.Zr-La/Peel exceeded the adsorption efficiency of Zr/Peel adsorbents in batch adsorption experiments at the same pH level.The peel as a host can strive to have a strong'shielding effect'to increase the steadiness of the entrenched Zr and La elements.La and Zr are hydroxide metals that emit many hydrogen ions during the hydrolysis reaction,which contribute to protonation and electrostatic attraction.The highest adsorption capacity of La-Zr/Peel for phosphate was calculated to be40.21 mg/g,and pseudo second-order equation is very well fitted for kinetic adsorption.Phosphate adsorption efficiency was reduced by an increase of pH.With the background of coexisting Cl-,little effect on adsorption efficiency was observed,while adsorption capacities were reduced by almost 20-30%with the coexistence of SO42-,NO3-and humic acid(HA).Muhammad Akram Xing Xu Baoyu Gao Qinyan Yue Shang Yanan Rizwan Khan Muhammad Ali Inam 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,5:8

14Preparation and Bloating Mechanism of Porous Ultra-lightweight Ceramsite by Dehydrated Sewage Sludge and Yellow River Sediments显示文摘To solve the disposal problems of solid wastes, dehydrated sewage sludge and Yellow River sediments were tested as components for production of ultra-lightweight ceramsite. The effects of Yellow River sediments addition on the characteristics of ceramsite were investigated. Ceramsite with different Yellow River sediments additions was characterized using thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, morphological structures analyses, pore size distributions and porosity analyses. Chemical components, especially ratios of Si O2 + Al2O3/Flux, were used to explain the glassy shell formation, physical properties and pores distribution of ultralightweight ceramsite; physical forces for instance expansion force and frictional resistance which combined with Si O2 + Al2O3/Flux ratios were used to explain the bloating mechanism. Results showed that the maximum addition of Yellow River sediments for making ultra-lightweight ceramsite was 35%. Macropores(between 0.226 μm and 0.554 μm) of ultra-lightweight ceramsite were dominant in the pore structures of ultra-lightweight ceramsite and its porosity was up to 67.7%. Physical force of expansion force was constant with the variation of Yellow River sediments content and physical force of frictional resistance was decreased with the increase of Yellow River sediments addition. The relationship between expansion and frictional resistance could determine the expansion rate of ceramsite. Larger pores inside the ceramsite bodies could be obtained as Yellow River sediments additions ranged from 10% to 30%. Ceramsite with higher Yellow River sediments additions of 40%(Si O2 + Al2O3/Flux ratios 4.25) became denser and have lower porosity. 15Novel cationic polyamidine:Synthesis,characterization,and sludge dewatering performance显示文摘In this study,a new and facile route was employed for synthesis of polyamidine with abundant cations and attractive five-membered ringlike structural unit.N-vinylformamide and acrylonitrile copolymerized firstly to form intermediates,and the intermediates were processed with hydrochloric acid to produce polyamidine.A series of polymerization conditions(e.g.polymerization time,temperature and dosage of initiator) were optimized through productivity,viscosity and cationic degree as evaluation.SEM analysis illustrated that the amidinization process could reduce the size of spaces between molecular and created compact structure,which would contribute to good flocculation performance and high viscosity.FT-IR,XPS and NMR spectra presented a rather clear structure of polyamidine.34.3%of sludge was sedimentated through the flocculation of polyamidine in the early stages.In contrast,only 6.8%of sludge was sedimentated by polyacrylamide.The moisture content in dehydrated floc could be reduced to 77.7%when 60 mg/L polyamidine was added.These results demonstrated that the polyamidine showed a great potential in the practical application of sludge dewatering.Bo Guo Huan Yu Baoyu Gao Sen Zhang Qinyan Yue Xing Xu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:7
16Stratigraphy of the Triassic-Jurassic Boundary Successions of the Southern Margin of the Junggar Basin,Northwestern China显示文摘The Triassic-Jurassic(Tr-J) boundary marks a major extinction event,which(~200 Ma) resulted in global extinctions of fauna and flora both in the marine and terrestrial realms.There prevail great challenges in determining the exact location of the terrestrial Tr-J boundary,because of endemism of taxa and the scarcity of fossils in terrestrial settings leading to difficulties in linking marine and terrestrial sedimentary successions.Investigation based on palynology and bivalves has been carried out over a 1113 m thick section,which is subdivided into 132 beds,along the Haojiagou valley on the southern margin of the Junggar Basin of the northern Xinjiang,northwestern China.The terrestrial Lower Jurassic is conformably resting on the Upper Triassic strata.The Upper Triassic covers the Huangshanjie Formation overlaid by the Haojiagou Formation,while the Lower Jurassic comprises the Badaowan Formation followed by the Sangonghe Formation.Fifty six pollen and spore taxa and one algal taxon were identified from the sediments.Based on the key-species and abundance of spores and pollen,three zones were erected:the Late Triassic(Rhaetian) Aratrisporites-Alisporites Assemblage,the Early Jurassic(Hettangian) Perinopollenites-Pinuspollenites Assemblage,and the Sinemurian Perinopollenites-Cycadopites Assemblage.The Tr-J boundary is placed between bed 44 and 45 coincident with the boundary between the Haojiagou and Badaowan formations.Beds with Ferganoconcha(?),Unio-Ferganoconcha and Waagenoperna-Yananoconcha bivalve assemblages are recognized.The Ferganoconcha(?) bed is limited to the upper Haojiagou Formation, Unio-Ferganoconcha and Waagenoperna-Yananoconcha assemblages are present in the middle and upper members of the Badaowan Formation.The sedimentary succession is interpreted as terrestrial with two mainly lake deposit intervals within Haojiagou and Badaowan formations,yielding fresh water algae and bivalves.However,the presence of brackish water algae Tasmanites and the marine-littoral facies bivalve Waagenoperna from the Badaowan Formation indicate that the Junggar Basin was influenced by sea water caused by transgressions from the northern Tethys,during the Sinemurian.SHA Jingeng Vivi VAJDA PAN Yanhong Linda LARSSON YAO Xiaogang ZHANG Xiaolin WANG Yaqiong CHENG Xiansheng JIANG Baoyu DENG Shenghui CHEN Siwei PENG Bo 2011Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2011,85,2:7
17Fractionation of residual Al in natural water treatment from reservoir with poly-aluminum-silicate-chloride (PASiC): Effect of OH/Al, Si/Al molar ratios and initial pH显示文摘An aluminum fractionation study was conducted for a surface reservoir water treatment to understand the performance of polyaluminum-silicate-chloride (PASiC) in terms of the residual Al fractions as a function of initial pH. The coagulation performance expressed as turbidity and organic matter removal was established as supporting data. Some extra data were evaluated in terms of the residual Al ratio of the composite PASiC coagulant. The main residual Al sources were the Al fractions derived from the use of PASiC. The turbidity and organic matter removal ability was optimal at initial pH 6.00-7.00, while the concentrations of various residual Al species and the residual Al ratio of PASiC were minimal at an initial pH range of 7.00-8.00. Under the conditions of OH/Al molar ratio=2.00 and Si/Al molar ratio=0.05, PASiC had superior coagulation performance and comparatively low residual Al concentrations. The Al fraction in the composite PASiC coagulant seldom remained under such conditions. Experimental data also indicated that the suspended (filterable) Al fraction was the dominant species, and organic-bound or organo-Al complex Al was considered to be the major species of dissolved Al in water treated by PASiC coagulation. 18Circular RNA circStag1 promotes bone regeneration by interacting with HuR显示文摘Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a common bone metabolic disorder characterized by deterioration of the bone microarchitecture,leading to an increased risk of fractures.Recently,circular RNAs(circ RNAs)have been demonstrated to play pivotal roles in regulating bone metabolism.However,the underlying functions of circ RNAs in bone metabolism in postmenopausal osteoporosis remain obscure.Here,we report that circ Stag1 is a critical osteoporosis-related circ RNA that shows significantly downregulated expression in osteoporotic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)and clinical bone tissue samples from patients with osteoporosis.Overexpression of circ Stag1 significantly promoted the osteogenic capability of BMSCs.Mechanistically,we found that circ Stag1 interacts with human antigen R(Hu R),an RNA-binding protein,and promotes the translocation of Hu R into the cytoplasm.A high cytoplasmic level of Hu R led to the activation of the Wnt signaling pathway by stabilizing and enhancing low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5/6(Lrp5/6)andβ-catenin expression,thereby stimulating the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs.Furthermore,overexpression of circ Stag1 in vivo by circ Stag1-loaded adeno-associated virus(circ Stag1-AAV)promoted new bone formation,thereby preventing bone loss in ovariectomized rats.Collectively,we show that circ Stag1 plays a pivotal role in promoting the regeneration of bone tissue via Hu R/Wnt signaling,which may provide new strategies to prevent bone metabolic disorders such as postmenopausal osteoporosis.Gaoyang Chen Canling Long Shang Wang Zhenmin Wang Xin Chen Wanze Tang Xiaoqin He Zhiteng Bao Baoyu Tan Jin Zhao Yongheng Xie Zhizhong Li Dazhi Yang Guozhi Xiao Songlin Peng 2022Bone Research2022,10,3:7
