Transplantation of stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth for bone regeneration in the dog mandibular defect显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth(SHED) transplanted for bone regeneration in the dog mandibular defect.METHODS: In this prospective comparative study, SHEDs had been isolated 5 years ago from human exfoliated deciduous teeth. The undifferentiated stem cells were seeded into mandibular bone through-andthrough defects of 4 dogs. Similar defects in control group were filled with cell-free collagen scaffold. After 12 wk, biopsies were taken and morphometric analysis was performed. The percentage of new bone formation and foreign body reaction were measured in each case. The data were subject to statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskalwalis statistical tests. Differences at P < 0.05 was considered as significant level.RESULTS: There were no significant differences between control and SHED-seeded groups in connective tissue(P = 0.248), woven bone(P = 0.248) and compact bone(P = 0.082). There were not any side effects in transplanted SHED group such as teratoma or malignancy and abnormalities in this period.CONCLUSION: SHEDs which had been isolated and characterized 5 years ago and stored with cryopreservation banking were capable of proliferation and osteogenesis after 5 years, and no immune response was observed after three months of seeded SHEDs. | Ali Behnia Abbas Haghighat Ardeshir Talebi Nosrat Nourbakhsh Fariba Heidari | 2014 | World Journal of Stem Cells2014,6,4: | 9
Predicting crest settlement in concrete face rockfill dams using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system and gene expression programming intelligent methods显示文摘This paper deals with the estimation of crest settlement in a concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD), utilizing intelligent methods. Following completion of dam construction, considerable movements of the crest and the body of the dam can develop during the first impoundment of the reservoir. Although there is vast experience worldwide in CFRD design and construction, few accurate experimental relationships are available to predict the settlement in CFRD. The goal is to advance the development of intelligent methods to estimate the subsidence of dams at the design stage. Due to dam zonification and uncertainties in material properties, these methods appear to be the appropriate choice. In this study, the crest settlement behavior of CFRDs is analyzed based on compiled data of 24 CFRDs constructed during recent years around the world, along with the utilization of gene expression programming (GEP) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) methods. In addition, dam height (H), shape factor (S f ), and time (t, time after first operation) are also assessed, being considered major factors in predicting the settlement behavior. From the relationships proposed, the values of R 2 for both equations of GEP (with and without constant) were 0.9603 and 0.9734, and for the three approaches of ANFIS (grid partitioning (GP), subtractive clustering method (SCM), and fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM)) were 0.9693, 0.8657, and 0.8848, respectively. The obtained results indicate that the overall behavior evaluated by this approach is consistent with the measured data of other CFRDs. | Danial BEHNIA Kaveh AHANGARI Ali NOORZAD Sayed Rahim MOEINOSSADAT | 2013 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2013,14,8: | 6
Comparison Between Four Methods for Data Fusion of ETM+ Multispectral and Pan Images显示文摘Four data fusion methods, principle component transform (PCT), brovey transform (BT), smoothing filter-based intensity modulation(SFIM), and hue, saturation, intensity (HSI), are used to merge Landsat-7 ETM+ multispectral bands with ETM+ panchromatic band. Each of them improves the spatial resolution effectively but distorts the original spectral signatures to some extent. SFIM model can produce optimal fusion data with respect to preservation of spectral integrity. However, it results the most blurred and noisy image if the coregistration between the multispectral and pan images is not accurate enough. The spectral integrity for all methods is preserved better if the original multispectral images are within the spectral range of ETM+ pan image. | Pouran Behnia | 2005 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2005,8,2: | 4
The study of key design parameters effects on the vortex tube performance显示文摘In this paper, energy separation effect in a vortex tube has been investigated using a CFD model. Thenumerical simulation has been done due to the complex structure of flow. The governing equationshave been solved by FLUENT code in 2D and 3D compressible and turbulent model. The effects ofgeometrical and thermo-physical parameters have been investigated. The results have shown that theoptimum length to diameter ratio is from 25 to 35. Increasing the number of nozzles from 2 to 4 withconvergent shape is found to be an efficient configuration for the swirl generator. The optimum valueof orifice diameter to tube diameter ratio, for the maximum cold air temperature difference and efficiency, has been determined to be around 0.58. The results show that if the inlet pressure increases upto a critical value, the efficiency will increase. Nevertheless, if it increases to higher values, the efficiencywill decrease. Moreover, it is found out that increasing the cold fraction decreases the coldtemperature difference and efficiency. | Mohammad Ameri Behrooz Behnia | 2009 | Journal of Thermal Science2009,18,4: | 2
Settlement modeling in central core rockfill dams by new approaches显示文摘One of the most important reasons for the serious damage of embankment dams is their impermissible settlement. Therefore,it can be stated that the prediction of settlement of a dam is of paramount importance. This study aims to apply intelligent methods to predict settlement after constructing central core rockfill dams.Attempts were made in this research to prepare models for predicting settlement of these dams using the information of 35 different central core rockfill dams all over the world and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Interface System(ANFIS) and Gene Expression Programming(GEP) methods.Parameters such as height of dam(H) and compressibility index(Ci) were considered as the input parameters. Finally,a form was designed using visual basic software for predicting dam settlement. With respect to the accuracy of the results obtained from the intelligent methods, they can be recommended for predicting settlement after constructing central core rockfill dams for the future plans. | Behnia D. | 6 | Modeling of shear wave velocity in limestone by soft computing methods显示文摘The main purpose of current study is development of an intelligent model for estimation of shear wave velocity in limestone. Shear wave velocity is one of the most important rock dynamic parameters.Because rocks have complicated structure, direct determination of this parameter takes time, spends expenditure and requires accuracy. On the other hand, there are no precise equations for indirect determination of it; most of them are empirical. By using data sets of several dams of Iran and neuro-genetic,adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS), and gene expression programming(GEP) methods, models are rendered for prediction of shear wave velocity in limestone. Totally, 516 sets of data has been used for modeling. From these data sets, 413 ones have been utilized for building the intelligent model, and 103 have been used for their performance evaluation. Compressional wave velocity(V_ p), density(γ)and porosity(n), were considered as input parameters. Respectively, the amount of R for neuro-genetic and ANFIS networks was 0.959 and 0.963. In addition, by using GEP, three equations are obtained; the best of them has 0.958 R. ANFIS shows the best prediction results, whereas GEP indicates proper equations. Because these equations have accuracy, they could be used for prediction of shear wave velocity for limestone in the future. | Behnia Danial Ahangari Kaveh Moeinossadat Sayed Rahim | 2017 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2017,27,3: | 2
