China has developed domestically the designed technologies for beach and shallow water areas oil field operations. These technical and engineering systems have been adapted to meet Chinas characteristic, operational features and requirements. Despite of our ongoing efforts, it has not yet met the top international quality standards with regard to the demand for special oil gas bearings and project developments in the middle deep sea areas. | 10 | Olivine-spinel Phase Boundary Rheology, Strength and Deep Seismicity显示文摘In this paper,we discuss (1) whether a significant change in dominant creep mechanism will occur at 400 km discontinuity in some subducting slabs as a result of olivine-spinel phase transition;(2) could the result influence phase boundary strength and deep seismicity? | 12 | Simulation of the future change of East Asian monsoon climate using the IPCC SRES A2 and B2 scenarios显示文摘In this paper, we applied the newest emission scenarios of the sulfur and greenhouse gases, i.e. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Emission Scenarios (SRES) A2 and B2 scenarios, to investigating the change of the East Asian climate in the last three decades of the 21st century with an atmosphere-ocean coupled general circulation model. The global warming enlarges the land-sea thermal contrast and, hence, enhances (reduces) the East Asian summer (winter) monsoon circulation. The precipitation from the Yangtze and Huaihe river valley to North China increases significantly. In particular, the strong rainfall increase over North China implies that the East Asian rainy area would expand northward. In addition, from the southeastern coastal area to North China, the rainfall would increase significantly in September, implying that the rainy period of the East Asian monsoon would be prolonged about one month. | 13 | Landscape evolution and precipitation changes in the Badain Jaran Desert during the last 30 000 years显示文摘On the basis of field expeditions into different parts of the Badain Jaran Desert, new evidence of landscape evolution and precipitation changes during the last 30 000 years has been found from the geomorphological, sedimentological and geochronological studies of the megadune. Different cemented surfaces of palaeo-dunes have been observed in many localities, which are representatives of relatively moister environment. The chronological data show that four periods of more humid environment occurred in the past 30 000 years. The stabilization of dunes in a large scale and the existence of many palaeo-lakes and lacustrine terraces confirm the periodic fluctuations of climate. | 14 | Reinterpretation of the Guangxian Orogeny显示文摘The Guangxian Orogeny, as an important concept on geology of South China, was created 70 years ago. It is generally regarded as an erogenic movement caused by the convergence of the Cathaysian and Yangtze blocks at the end of Silurian. Based on the recent progress of the geological research on Guangxi and adjacent areas, western Guangxi and Liuzhou-Heshan area of central Guangxi may belong to a stable block of Early Paleozoic. The Guangxian Orogeny originated from the northward translation of the Yunkai Block on its south at the end of Cambrian, and formed the Damingshan-Dayaoshan fold belt between the two blocks. It was possibly related with the Late Pan-African Orogeny. The convergence of the Cathaysian and Yangtze blocks occurred in Late Ordovician to Early Silurian and mainly had effect on Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. The term 'Chongyu Orogeny' may be suitable for it. Results show that the winter of 2002 is of the warmest in the recent 54 years in North Asia, which was caused by both decadal scale and interannual scale variability. | 16 | Uncertainty in magnetic activity indices显示文摘Magnetic activity indices are widely used in theoretical studies of solar-terrestrial coupling and space weather prediction. However, the indices suffer from various uncertainties, which limit their application and even mislead to incorrect conclu-sion. In this paper we analyze three most popular indices, Kp, AE and Dst. Three categories of uncertainties in magnetic indices are discussed: 'data uncertainty' originating from inadequate data processing, 'station uncertainty' caused by in-complete station covering, and 'physical uncertainty' stemming from unclear physical mechanism.
